"So....you needed me for what again?" I ask the two boys in front of me. They've been my friends for a few years, but I still don't trust them when it comes to their little "missions" and "master plans." Even though I was in high school, I still ended up hanging out with them. I look from Greg to Rowley, "Ninja...agent?"
Rowley nods. "Yeah." he looks at Greg. "Tell her the plan."
Greg leans in across the table, as close as he can get. "I call it: Plan Rodrick Room Raid." he whispers.
Shivers course up my spine. Rodrick Heffley.... I chew on my bottom lip. Why did it this have to have something to do with him? "O-Oh..."
Greg nods, "He stole my journal-"
"That diary-?"
"My journal." he cuts me off firmly. "It's a journal."
I hold up my hands in a sign of surrender. "Okay, okay, so what about that?"
"I need to get it back, but if he catches me in his room, he'll kill me. And if I send Rowley in there...well..." he looks at his chubby best friend.
Rowley gulps. "He'll eat me alive." he whispers in horror.
I roll my eyes. I knew Rodrick bullied them, but that was a little over the top. "So....what does this have to do with me?" I question warily.
"We, need you, to go in his room to retrieve it." Greg tells me, making my heart drop into my stomach like a rock in a lake.
"What?!" I exclaim. "I-I can't! What about me?!"
The boys exchange a look then Greg rolls his head around to look at me. "Well, you're a girl, so he wont kill you. He doesn't hit girls." he rations. "So you'd be safe."
Groaning, I stand up, leaning my forearms on the table. "Isn't he home?" I whisper furiously. "There won't be an opening."
Rowley looks at Greg, and Greg grins. "Well, Löded Diper has band practice today, so he'll be down in the basement." he informs me.
I run my hands through my curls nervously. "Fine. Damn." I stand up and pull them free of the ponytail holder, wrapping it around my wrist and letting my hair fall down my back. If there was a chance I was going to get caught, I was going to have to turn on the charm.
And as if he was summoned, Rodrick walks into the kitchen, apple in his hand. He looks over, kohl lined eyes studying us. "What're you three up to?" he asks suspiciously.
Greg stiffens, "Nothing, nothing... Ari's just over here to help me- I mean, Rowley and I, with a project."
Rodrick's eyes land on me. "That true, gorgeous?" he takes a bite of his apple and runs his tongue over his lips slowly.
Shit. Fuck. Damn. Holy hell. My stomach tightens, "Y-Yeah." I breathe.
He smirks and nods. "Good..." he turns back to Greg. "And by the way, that little diary of yours..." he laughs. "Oh god, pure gold. That, my little nerdy brother, is going on Facebook."
Greg's eyes widen in horror, "Rodrick you wouldn't!"
"Oh yes Rodrick would." Rodrick says, walking off. "And yes Rodrick will."
Greg drops his face to the table. "See Ari, my life will be over if you don't help me." he moans in despair.
I sigh. "Fine... I'm in."
~~~|~*~|~~~
As soon as we hear the the thunder of drums, the plan goes into action. While I'm in Rodrick's room, Greg and Rowley will keep watch, just in case Rodrick comes upstairs. I will look in his room -which I've never been in before- for Greg's "journal" and take it back to him.
