Alisa's POV
St. Petersburg, Russia
The Royal Families have been an important thing throughout history, and knowing you're part of it is pretty exciting, in a weird way. I'm the Grand Duchess Alisa Nikolaevna Romanov. My father is Nicholas IV, Emperor of Russia. (A/N This is fake, fiction, fantasy, you know already. So in the story the Romanovs were never killed. Just an fyi.)
My older brother is Andrei Nikolaevich Romanov, Tsarevich of Russia. My mother died from sickness when i was only 10. My brother barely turned 13. It took my family a while to cope with her being gone. My father during the time would usually stay in his room. He didn't go to meetings, he stayed away from public appearances, he didn't go outside for months. Me and my brother usually did these things though. But a month later, my father walked out of his room looking clean and fresh. He stood tall and walked boldly. He took me and my brother out most of the time. We had finally got our Father back.
Now, I'm sixteen, turning seventeen soon. My brother is eighteen, now a gentleman as my father says. Though in my opinion he always has been, since the day he was born, even though I didn't even exist yet.
"Alisa darling, can you go find your brother and tell him to meet me in my office." My father said. I nodded my head and started my way, walking through the polished, wide halls of Alexander Palace. We just came back from our Winter Palace.
I was only in my socks, so I slid around the halls for fun.
"Oh dear Duchess Alisa, do be careful." One of the maids told me.
"Relax Margrit, I'll be careful. And please don't call me that, just call me Alisa!" I yelled as I slid away. Once I reached my brother's room, I knocked gently knowing how sensitive he can be sometimes.
"Andrei, open up, father wants you in his office-"
"I'm going, probably wants to talk rubbish, again." He says as he opened the door, sighing at the last part.
"You do need to realize you're going to be ruling Russia soon, Andrei. So it's only normal for father to want to talk "rubbish" with you." I said. Andrei looked down at me with an amused face.
"And what about you miss, shouldn't you be off knitting and cleaning and learning to speak out properly in front of people." He said jokingly.
"Don't tease me Andrei, you know I have a problem with speaking out loud in front of a bunch of strangers.
"Don't worry Alisa, you'll learn soon. It's not as scary either. What's scary is speaking in front of the other Royal Families, Father is taking me to the Netherlands in a few days. I have to speak in front of the Royal Dutch Family, and you know how their king is." Andrei said. Our Royal family is the most feared because of my father, but my father and brother are little more hesitant about the Dutch King.
Him and my father used to be good friends actually, but being a king got the best of them. Now they find it really hard to trust one another.
"Andrei, can you please convince dad to let me come along. I've never been to a Royal Family meeting. Please." I begged.
"Fine fine, i'll try and convince him. But I can't keep any promises. You know how father is." He said. We reached my father's office.
"Have fun Andrei." I said as I walked away.
"Eh, i'll try." He whispered, and disappeared behind the tall, wooden brown doors. I looked at the door a while longer until turned around and slid through the halls.
"Alisa dear, there's someone here for you." One of our maids said.
"Right, tell them i'll be just a moment." I said, and ran off to my room to change into something a little more pleasing to guest. Also some shoes. Once I was done, I walked down the halls and reached the front hall.
