The small bell chimed as Mia and Zoe left the coffee shop while trying to juggle steaming mugs and their lunches. The grilled sandwiches were Mia’s all-time favorite on campus and she had gotten her roommate addicted. The two of them laughed their worries away as they discussed the upcoming week of classes while taking a mental health break from going stir crazy finishing up assignments on a hangover. The chilly November air nipped at their noses and Zoe ended up abandoning her food to bury her face in her thick red scarf.

“It’s cold!” The taller girl whined. Mia laughed while fixing her own cream knit scarf and slipping on the mustard coloured mittens to match her beanie.

“You should have dressed better,” the light haired girl giggled before crunching into her chicken pesto masterpiece.

“I know mum, thanks.” Zoe retorted sarcastically.

The two of them were met with familiar faces – one of them being the one Zoe wanted to see most. Two dark haired boys and a curly haired one made their way towards them, greeting the girls warmly.

“Hey cutie,” Ryan smiled at Zoe, kissing her rosy cheek, making her turn a deeper red than red wind ever could.

“Why don’t I get cute morning kisses?” Zayn whined loudly enough to cause a spur of laughter from him friends. Ryan swung around, grabbing his best friend’s face to kiss him on the cheek quickly. He turned to face Zoe once more, leaning in for a slower, more languid kiss. “I don’t want one of those from you,” Zayn shook his head in distaste from watching the two.

“I think you guys are adorable,” Mia chimed in, making both Ryan and Zoe blush as they held hands. She was truly glad her new friend had found someone good for her after the disaster between Niall and she had happened. She had spent the next few days after hearing about it from her friends – fist pumping, gossip and honest truth of nitty-gritty details Mia did not need to know – it was a topic of conversation she wanted to avoid as best she could.

“Thanks, Mimi. Means a lot for you to feel that way,” Ryan smiled before leaning down to whisper something in the darker haired girl’s ear. Zoe blushed and nodded vigorously before she was whisked away by her new male interest with only a quick goodbye.

“Use protection!” Zayn called out to the fleeting figures, receiving a cold glare from his best friend and a light punch in the ribs from the smaller girl.

“I’m pretty sure they won’t be doing anything major for a while,” Harry finally spoke up. “Halloween basically took any foolishness out of Zoe. Since Ni-”

“LALALALA NOT LISTENNING!” Mia screamed covering her ears. She did not want to hear a word further about Niall and Zoe’s sexcaped for the rest of her life. Zayn’s expression mirrored his female friend; the distaste for Niall’s sex life was evident on his face. “Niall is a slut, let’s leave it at that,” she concluded.

“Look whose one to talk,” Zayn smirked and looked to his other friend, moving back before he got smacked by both of them. A topic unknown to most, Mia and Harry wanted to keep their past lives under wraps. It was a long time ago and it was going to stay in the past. Unfortunately, Zayn was not willing to let the secret slide. “Just saying. I mean you’ve never slept around or anything. Not with anyone I know,” the dark haired boy shrugged innocently while receiving dirty looks from the both.

“How about billiard?” Harry asked to change the subject. Both nodded in agreement.

“No one calls it that, Harry,” Mia flipped her hair smiling and walked off ahead of the two boys to the lounge while carrying her cooling food.
