"Oh my God! Riley, no way! You're coming back?! I'm so excited. I was so lost without my best friend!" I said to Riley on the phone. Riley is my best friend. She is my ride or die. She's been there for me through everything. "Yep. Sure am. I'll be starting high school at River Mountain High with you." We did everything together until she moved to Larkton, River Mountain's rival. Nothing was really ever the same after she left.
"Now we will be able to play softball together, instead of against each other." Riley screamed excitedly on the phone. "I know! I can't wait! Can you believe we're starting high school?"
"I know! This will be so much fun. All the extra classes, advanced diplomas, extra credit. Oh my God, I'm so excited. I'm always up for a challenge."
Yeah, Riley is the type of girl that's all serious about her grades and her college diploma. She's little miss goodie two shoes. But that doesn't change anything between us.
"Or all the hot guys, the freedom. Oh! And let's not forget about the parties. Those should be fun."
You could say we're just a little opposite. That's what makes us best friends. She keeps me in line and out of trouble.
"Hey! Why don't you come over tomorrow night and stay. We can get ready together for school the next morning. It's our first day of high school, our first day of our new life, our first day to start making our lives change, our first day to start making our mark on the world. We have to go ready to show everybody what you, Riley Peyton, and me, Melony Jade are made of. What do you sat?!"
"Okay, I'll ask my parents. Seriously though, Mel, if you don't try your best this year and straighten up, we won't be able to get into college together. You need to start taking school more seriously."
"Okay, Ry. I'll try my best, but weekends school doesn't matter cause that's party time for me." I say while giggling through the phone. "Oh my gosh. I can't wait for you to come over. I'm doing your makeup, hair, and picking out your clothes. You're going to be a total hottie."
"Oh no. No, no, no, no, no. Definitely not. No offense, but I'm not letting you turn me into a slut. I like how I look and I'm not changing."
"Oh, c'mon, Riley. Isn't that what high school is all about? Change? Please, just once? If you don't like it and you don't get any looks at all by any hot guys you don't have to ever take my advise again. Please!"
"Uggggh, okay just this once."
"Yay! Okay, well, I have to get my beauty sleep. Night! Chao for now. Love you!!!!"
"Night! Love you too! See you tomorrow."
