For an old friend; for all the pain we shared...

DEAR GOD

I wish You would
remove the brightness from the sky
I wish You would
replace each raindrop with a teardrop that I cry
And release a defeaning thunderstorm of pain for a day
To show this city my deep affiction and dismay

I wish You would
brew the air with oceans of agony
I wish You would
drain out every atom of beauty
And ignite arrays of lightening with sparks of anguish petrying
To show this city my numb soul lying here wounded and crying

Fill the skies with frowns of grey
Allow a violent storm of despair to rage for the people of this city to remember a day
When teardrops and pain
Fell from the sky - not rain
Only then will they know of my still heart so lifeless
As I am ladden with wordless screams alone in the darkness
