Chapter 3

three

oh. my. god. my head is throbbing. what happened? i can't even remember.  wait. where am i? i don't think i went home last night. maybe i fell asleep at work again.  i heard people walk into my room, "but, fury"  a voice whined.

what? where the hell am i? who is this person speaking?..and why does it sound familiar?

"no, Mr stark, she is dangerous, and could lose control at anytime. we can't trust her, nor can we keep her aboard the ship."  that's why he sounds familiar. it's tony. but who is 'fury'?  "fury, she has been employed with me for over 2 years. i know she isn't going to destroy anything. i don't even think she knows she has powers."  i have powers? what.. no i don't, how come i've never seen them then. i mean, i've never used them before.  "we need to wait until she has woken, and then we can test her powers, put her through a training course. we need to figure out ho her powers work, and teach her how to control them, so  no surprises or loud noises in case she turns into the other.. thing. but be warned stark. i know you have a thing for poking doctor banner with pointy objects, but she could be worse than his other side, if the description you gave us of her appearance, when she was her other self,  in the alley is correct, then she may leave more destruction to this ship than dr banner would. she could rip you, or any of us in half." fury said sternly, he is obviously the leader around here. "sure. whatever" tony sighed and walk over to the chair beside my bed. i opened my eyes and saw tony looking down at me, he smiled

Tony's POV

i sat down in the chair next to Thalia, i have had a crush on her since the first day i hired her. but i know she will never go there with me. and i have accepted that. i stared at her flawless face, scanning every detail just as her eyes opened, she looked at me, confused "hey Thalia, how do you feel?"  "i-i'm okay, but wh-where am i? and how did i get here?" how do i explain this to her without overloading her with information? "you're, um, in a hospital, you were attacked when you left work last night, i was  walking with you and i turned away for a second and some guy had put a cloth over your mouth, I'm assuming it was chloroform because you were fading in and out of consciousness, and the  he took your bag and ran" that was an alright explanation.. maybe i should just leave out all the parts about telling her when shes scared she grows a couple feet, turns blue, is telepathic and can shoot or freeze people with her ice powers.  "okay, so if he took my bag why is it here?" she asked pointing at her bag in the corner of the room, crap.. "uh, i, got it back for you" "oh, okay. is that why i don't remember anything from last night? because the cloth had that stuff on it?" "yeah pretty much.. any other questions?" "yeah, just one..who is director fury?" "oh, he is, uh the director of this ship, called the helicarrier" i can't tell her to much.  i just  hope she doesn't ask about her pow-  "do i have powers?" jinxed it.  "what do you mean? what makes you think you have "powers"?  "well you and director fury were talking and he said i was dangerous and could rip you in half, because of my powers'. he also said i could be putting peoples lives at risk.. i don't want to be a burden." she yawned and started to close her eyes "Thalia, i'll answer your questions later, just try to rest" "i don't want to be here. in this hospital bed, please let me go somewhere less tense." "fine" i sighed, thinking of a place she could stay for a while. "you can sleep in my bed. but minus me, okay? they weren't exactly planning on having guests" "okay, well lead the way tony" she smiled, i got the nurse to unhook her from the machines and sign her out. we walked around a few corners and down some halls. we arrived at my room and entered "okay, so this is my bedroom. you can use any of my clothes if you need to, i will be in the lab working with Dr. banner. it's down the corridor then to your left. you can't miss it. come if you need me. oh, and when you wake up i will introduce you to the team." "okay, thanks tony" she smiled, i walked out of the room and closed the door, and started walking to the lab. Bruce was there and was obviously curious about the new guest on the ship "soo, who's the new kid?" he said looking away from his computer to talk to me "oh, her name is Thalia, she works for me at stark tower. but last night she was attacked by some guy. he tried to knock her out with chloroform and then she turned into a blue giant women  and shot ice out of her skin and threw the guy across the alley with her mind. but she doesn't remember any of it. actually, she is pretty similar to you and the green rage monster, except she was frightened and probably a bit surprised, so she lashed out. but she must have been pretty scared because I've pranked her plenty of times at work.." i started thinking about what had happened. how did she lose control then,  but not any other time? "unless.. like me, she can't remember what happens when she looses control. she can remember what she is doing when she can control it. she forgot what happened because her body took over her mind, she was extremely scared, so she lost control.. well that's my theory anyway" he said  . so she is a girl version of the hulk.. that's fucking awesome! "avengers, i need you at the meeting table. now" fury said through our earpieces. ughh, fun. i went to go see how Thalia was holding up  before i went to the meeting. 

Thalia's POV

i heard someone knock lightly on the door "come in" i said "are you okay Thalia?" it was tony "no, not really, I'm just confused and i couldn't sleep, can we maybe walk around?" i was hoping to get a better feel of this place so i didn't get lost "well, i have to go to a meeting, but you can come if you'd like, you'll get to meet the avengers. and director fury." well that sounds nice, and it would be easier to meet them all in the one place.. "okay, that sounds nice, i have to get dressed but i will be out in a second" he nodded and left the room. i came came out a minute later and we walked to the meeting room. of course we were the last ones in there so everyone turned and stared at us, most of them probably confused by who i was, i noticed my hair was tinged a light blue colour. what? why is my  hair blue? i don't remember dying it, maybe it was tony pulling another prank on me, even when we aren't at work he will still try and prank me  he put my hand in her shoulder and walked me to the table, and sat me in the chair next to him "hello miss Jones, how are you feeling?" fury asked "i'm fine" i said in almost a whisper "as you can see, we have a new member aboard the ship. her name is Thalia Jones and she will be our guest for a while." "hi Thalia, I'm Steve, how are you?" he said, he took my hand and kissed it softly, i blushed a little and nodded my head "I'm good, thank you" "i am Thor, a lovely maiden such as yourself would be unavailable, am i correct?" he smiled softly "i, uh actually. I'm single."  "I'm fury, but i'm sure that tony has told you about myself, i am the director of SHIELD and this ship."  "i'm Clint and this is Natasha, we are agents here at SHIELD. I'm the arrow shooter and she is a trained  assassin." he smiled, looking over at Natasha. the way he looked at her, told me that he likes her. she blushed and turned away, avoiding eye contact with him "and i-i'm Bruce, i work with tony, I'm a scientist, and other stuff..." he smiled at me with a cute half smile, i bit my lip and turned away, a light blush tinging my cheeks, i went to put my hand out to shake his, but he left his hands hanging by his body. he looked nervous, like if he touched me the whole world would blow up. so i ignored it and turned to tony "should i leave, i see you obviously have something very important to do"  "well it is pretty important. maybe i can take you for a tour around the ship afterwards. i can bring Bruce along too, he knows almost every passage and secret door possible on the ship." he smiled and i nodded, i looked at Bruce and smiled he looked very anxious.

tony lead me to his room and said that i should have my own room and that he would talk to fury about it in the meeting, i opened the door and walked in, hugging tony "thanks for everything tony, it really means a lot to me that you have done this." he nodded and kissed my forehead before turning, and walking back down the passage to the meeting room, i walked into the room and shut the door, i changed into one of tony's pajama pants and singlet, i hopped straight into bed pulling the covers up to my neck.  before, i had no chance of falling asleep. now it feels like sleeping is the easiest thing in the world...
