They say that every one second, 40 bolts of lightning strike the earth, 11,500 Google searches take place, 2.8 million emails are sent, 20,000 bottles of Coke are sold worldwide, 4 people are born, and 2 more die.
But in the billions upon billions of seconds of my life that happened before the summer of 2013; almost nothing happened.
And as cheesy as it sounds, it was as if my life was just a blur before I met him. It was as if those 18 birthdays and 3 broken bones and the 5 funerals I’d been to were pointless. It was as if the time I kissed a boy behind a rubbish bin and the dozens of times I’d stuck up for my little sister were just some boring background story. Because everything in my life leading up to June 1st, 2013, was just the pretext for what was about to happen to me.
And just like those 40 bolts of lightning; no one warns you.
You get no time to mull over what’s happening because it just happens. And really, when Mother Nature deals you your hand, you’ve got nothing left but to just play it.
