As I wait in the car for my family to return from the shops, a strange man gets in. The short, brown haired man in a dark leather jacket put his foot down and the car races off.

"Stop," I plead feebly, reaching for my phone. Who is he? My curious wolf, Rhea, wonders. "Who are you?" I echo her thoughts. I am ready to trust her judgement on this stranger. He's a wolf too. Rhea hums in my mind. Can we trust him? I question her. We'll see. I begin to dial my father when my phone flies out of my hand.

"Not yet," he says, "I have orders to follow first."

"Who are your orders from?" I demand, still unsure of his motives to kidnap me. Hadn't I done enough to protect myself? How could he tell I am a werewolf? Can he tell? Wha – Calm down, Rhea mutters, getting annoyed at my panic. I'm still testing to see if we can trust him! Oops. Hang on am minute. Rhea if he has kidnapped us then we can't run for a while.

"Are you done day-dreaming yet?" A voice rips me from my thoughts. It was the man; I still can't tell if I can trust him. Realising that the AC is on I moved to turn it off. He moved as well, our hands connected a sharp zap of energy between us. Nothing. He's not our mate, right? I can't tell if it's the mate pull or not. Right, I can't feel anything either. Rhea sounds disappointed. We were supposed to find our mate at 18 but I'm already 21.

We sit in an uncomfortable silence for another hour or so. I try to mind-link my parents but they seem to have their walls up. Unusual but I have to leave it. "We're here." The man states. Nervous, I climb out of the car. I step out into a clearing in a forest, interesting.

"Wait I still don't know your name!" I exclaim suddenly. I sense a person behind me, the smell heavenly – like a forest after a storm. I turn around to face them.

"You don't need to know my name, however do know that I am now you Beta," he says. The new man in front of me smirks. Sensing his authority which radiates from him I bow my head.

"And I assume you're the alfa?" I question slightly sarcastically, refusing to sound nervous.

"You'll do well to not assume things in my pack, darling," I gasp and look up, "although you are correct." As I look at him I glance at his eyes, the colour of rain. Transfixed I begin to stare. Mate! Rhea screams, I wince.

"Darling what's wrong?" He seems concerned, I can't trust him yet.

"Nothing, my wolf got excited. I can see it was for nothing though." Not only is he my mate but he doesn't feel it. Maybe I'm wrong; maybe he already has a mate. I'm going into shock; I've been ripped from my family with no way to contact them. Stop, please, you're fine, I talked to Lucy, and your family know what's going on. Don't panic now. Rhea pleads in my head. Ok calm down. Breathe in. Breathe out. I'm fine. Lucy, my sister's wolf, knows and has told Anny. I'm fine.

"Darling, please don't do this to me. Not now, I only just found you. Please don't leave me." Suddenly I'm aware that I'm on the forest floor, those glossy, grey eyes hovering over my face. I reach up to touch his face, a small fire breaks out over my skin. It is him, he is my mate. The alfa is my mate.

"Name and age." I get out barely above a whisper.

"Darren Reynolds, 22." All fades to black.
