Chapter 8: Good News

"Can I go to Robin's house, mommy?" I asked.

"Sure." she replied proceeded by a wink.

"Why did you wink?" I asked curiously.

She shrugged. "Just because." she said, smirking.

"Why did you smirk?"

She laughed. "What's with all the questions, Jar? Aren't you supposed to be at Robin's now?"

I smiled and waved her goodbye then ran to Robin's house.

I knocked on the door.

Mr. Jackson opened the door and greeted me with a smile.

"Hello, Jarrett. Robin's in her room." he said, showing me in.

"Thank you, Mr. Jackson."

I ran up to Robin's room and opened her door.

She was seated on her wooden desk, writing on something.

"Oh, hey, Jar Head." she said, turning her attention to me.

I rolled my eyes. "Will you please stop calling me that?"

She shrugged. "Why? Jarrett sounds awfully like Jar Head."

I crossed my arms. "No, it doesn't!"

"Yeah, it does. You just can't hear it because you're Jarrett."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

She giggled. "Oh nothing."

I flopped down on her Hello Kitty bed. "Anyway, I have good news Rob!"

She furrowed her eyebrows. "Rob...?" she repeated.

"Yup. You know, Rob from Robin."

"Rob's a guy name." she said as she sat down on her bed.

"So what? So is Robin." I stated.

She smacked my head. "Meanie."

I sat up and smiled brightly. "Thank you, Rob."

She rolled her eyes. "Anyway, what's the good news?" she asked.

"Mom agreed to let me go to Lincoln!"

Her face immediately lit up. "Really? That's awesome!" she exclaimed.

"Yup! We're gonna be schoolmates!" I said, clapping my hands.

"High five!" she yelled.

As I hit her hand, (cliché as it sounds) I felt a little spark.

I blushed. Then I covered my face with my hands.

"What's wrong?" asked Robin, taking my hands in hers.

I blushed even more.

"O-oh, uh, n-n-nothing." I stuttered.

She giggled. "Your face is as red as a tomato!" she laughed.

I laughed too at her comment.

Man, being classmates is gonna be awesome.
