'Is this completely crazy?' I asked, breaking the silence that had been with us since we left the road.

'Yes.'

I turned and glared at Miles, almost tripping over a large stone. 'You know I needed to get away, we all needed to get away from there.'

Miles rolled his eyes. 'Yeah, well, normal people go camping for a few days if they need to get away.'

Alex frowned at Miles. 'Remember, you were the one who agreed to come. Neither of us forced you.'

Miles shrugged, stopping to adjust the strap on his duffel bag. 'You're right. But I still think it's crazy.'

Miles was probably right. Three legal adults running away from home to go 'camping' did seem a little insane.

Most people would say 'you're 18 years old. You don't need to run away, your life is your life now.'

Add on the fact all three of us come from one of the wealthiest neighbourhoods and we're batshit crazy.

But turning 18 in our families meant our futures were our lives. Everything we did had to lead to a high-paying job, or in my case, marrying into a wealthy family.

That's the thing about people and money, the more you have of it, the more you want.

My parents are a prime example of that; this weekend I was supposed to meet a 'promising young gentleman, studying to become a doctor, very wealthy family', in my mother's words anyway.

Alex was supposed to be packing for University, to study law, despite the fact he was an amazing artist and had tried every possible way to make his parents see it. Miles was a different case, he'd turned 18 and disobeyed his parents almost a year ago now, and while his parents pretended they were okay with it, they spent every waking minute trying to control his life.

So here we were, stumbling and tripping through a forest with no idea where we were going or what we were going to do to with our lives.

But getting away gave us more options then staying, and there was nothing we could do to change that, right?
