Randy's POV:
I knew what Juliett was doing and why she was doing this, but I don't know if I'm ready for this. I know it's been a year since Natalie left me, but I still don't think I'm ready to move on. I was in love with her and I just can't forget that. She was perfect and the only one for me, no one else can match up to that. Not even someone like Ashlee.
I've known Ashlee since freshmen year, she was in most of my classes. We're not really friends or have talked before, but what pisses me off the most is that everyone calls us Mr. and Mrs. Dracula because we're the only two emo people in the whole school, which I find very weird.
Ashlee's pretty, I know that for a fact, but I just can't go out with her. And I don't think she even feels that way about me, so Juliett shouldn't be forcing us to be together.
But, now as I am walking past Juliett and Ashlee in the hallways last period, I can't help feeling this strange pull against her. I didn't know Ashlee! But, I also didn't know Natalie so well, but I just.... Ah, I'm so confused!
"Natalie would be happy if you moved on," a voice said from next to me. I turned my head and saw Riley. "She wouldn't be happy to see you so upset."
"I-I don't know if I can." I said to him.
"At least try it."
"She doesn't like me back."
"Who says she doesn't."
I snapped my head towards Juliett and Ashlee, and saw her eyes on me, as soon as she caught me looking, she turned her head. My eyes widened a little, did she have a crush on me? I stared at her for a while, hoping she'd turn again, but she didn't.
"Take her to the dance." Riley suggested.
"But what if people-" he cut me off.
"Don't listen to them, listen to your heart."
"Alright." I sighed.
I took one more look at the two of them, then walked away.
The Dance:
On the night of the dance, Riley helped me get dressed in a suit and then drove me to the school. I was so nervous on the whole ride there and didn't know what to expect when I got there.
I could hear people whispering as I entered the gym, which just made me even more nervous. I spotted Ashlee by the food table laughing along with something Juliett had said. She caught me staring and I could see a light blush appearing on her cheeks.
"Go get her, tiger!" Riley encouraged.
I gulped and started making my way over there.
"Hey, Juliett and...Ashlee." I said softly.
"Hey." Juliett replied enthusiastically.
"Hi." Ashlee replied lowly.
She stared at the ground and I stared at the drink in her hand, while Juliett looked in between us.
"Ok, then, I'll just be over there."
Juliett walked away leaving me alone with Ashlee. For a while, neither of said anything and I could feel my face burning up with every minute that passed.
"So, you wanna dance or something?" I asked awkwardly.
"Uh sure." she said.
I slowly took her hand and led her to the dancefloor. We weren't really dancing though. I noticed Ashlee's hand shaking violently, causing some of her punch to spill over.
"Um, here." I took the drink from her hands and handed her a rose that Riley had given me.
"Uh, thanks?" she took it and twirled it in her fingers.
Soon a slow dance came on and everyone grabbed their date to go dance. I wasn't so sure if I should do the same or not, in the end, I finally found the courage to wrap my arms around Ashlee's waist and pull her close to me. I gently swayed along with the song and waited for it to be over. The song lasted longer than I expected and I found myself getting bored.
My eyes moved down and I stopped on Ashlee's, she looked...beautiful. This was the first time I was seeing her in a dress and she looked really good. Her dress was short and red with a little black, her shoes matched and so did her jewelry.
"You look nice." I whispered.
"Thanks. So do you." she replied.
I felt something strange happening inside of my chest and I remembered I had the same feeling on that night that I met Natalie. I leaned forward and my lips pressed against Ashlee's forehead, hearing her sigh melted my heart. I squeezed my eyes shut, remembering Natalie, my heart felt like it was on the verge of exploding.
"Natalie would be happy if you moved on. She wouldn't be happy to see you so upset." Riley's voice said in my head.
'I love you, Natalie,' I thought in my head. 'And I'll never forget you.'
I opened my eyes and moved my lips down to Ashlee's, my lips touched hers and I softly kissed them. As I kissed her, I tried my best not to think of Natalie and just focus all my attention on Ashlee.
"Ooh!" I could hear people say.
But right now, I wasn't thinking of what people were saying, right now I was thinking about Ashlee. She started kissing me back and I wrapped my arms tighter around her. When I pulled away, I was breathless.
"I just need some time to adjust to this, I still don't think I'm that ready yet." I told her.
"It's ok, I understand, you can take your time." Ashlee replied, smiling.
I stroked her hair a little and held her close to me.
"Don't ever leave me."
"I won't. I promise."
I looked up briefly and saw Juliett looking towards us.
'Thank you, Juliett.' I mouthed to her.
'My pleasure, Randy.' she mouthed back.
