I refused to come out of my cabin. It was basically destroyed anyway. I refused because everyone hated me like I was responsible for everything. I believed them. I don't care how many times my mother had to tell me before the messages stopped. I just gave up.
"Percy. Please let me explain. Please. It was an accident." Annabeth's voice sounded from the opposite side of the door. I didn't respond. I never talked to anyone. She did the most horrible heart-wrenching thing ever. She had cheated on me with a son of Ares. I would not dare speak his name. On my right hand, on my 'ring' finger, I wore the simple band of silver with sea green gems that made up a ring I was going to use to propose to her. I stood up. I threw everything in a duffle bag and I climbed out the window. Never looking back. I knew my parents were dead. The pit visits me every night but I don't scream. Not now. Not ever. I was a new man. I was no longer the Percy that went to Camp Half-Blood.
