Chapter 2
Bridget POV
*The next morning*
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
I woke up dazed from my horrible sleep. It was raining so hard last night… I got up, took a shower, slipped into a tee with a pencil print on it, skinny jeans, and pulled my hair back into pony tail; some hair hanging out, framing my face. I brushed my teeth, and ran down for breakfast.
“Good morning, sweetheart.” My mom said, rinsing out her cup of coffee.
“Morning mom,” I turned to my dad, and stared at him, “Morning dad…” he put his paper down and quickly sat up straight.
“Oh, um… Sorry pumpkin; good morning. Got sucked into the paper there… That is one interesting article…” he said. Sigh, that was his usual cover up…
“O.K., dad…” I said sitting down. My mom came over, hugged me from behind, and set a plate of scrambled eggs and toast on my plate. I reached for the butter and spread it across the slice of bread.
“Thanks mom.” I said.
“Your welcome, Bridget, but don't eat so luxuriously. You have to go in about five.” She told me.
“Kay, mom… I’m pretty sure I can finish eggs and one slice of toast in five minutes…” I reassured her. Turns out, I couldn’t… I was rushing out the door toast at hand, barely making it to the bus. I got on relieved I MADE IT. I saw Josh sitting near the back and I quickly sat next to him.
“Scooch.” I said, smiling. I wanted that window seat.
Josh POV
What?! Did… Did Bridget just ask me to… Kiss her? No way… I leaned in and…
“WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!” she screamed. Everyone on the bus was staring at us.
“Um, everyone, not of your bees wax; go back to your convo.” I said. Everyone returned to their chit-chatting phase on the bus. More quietly, I said,
“Didn’t you just ask for a kiss?”
“NO! I said to ‘scooch.’ Not a ‘smooch!’ I’d rather have a window seat. I though you wouldn’t mind so I didn’t say please.” She explained.
“OOOOOhhhh!!!! I said, with realization. I moved aside and let her sit by the window… Funny… That tiny moment felt pretty good… Except… it wasn’t real… Oh well! There was an awkward silence between us. I decided to tell Bridget about my… “Discovery…”
“Hey, guess what?” I said, excitedly.
“What.” She said, still staring out the window.
“I found a way to make…” I thought about it, and decided to tell her somewhere more… Private… “I made some type of light substance…”
“REALLY?!” she said, turning to me.
“Shhh, shh, shh!!!! Keep it down! I’ll show you it later. There’s too many people. It’s really bright…” I said, alarmed by her reaction.
