"We're going down", the captain announced over the speakers. One of the engines had blown out. We were falling from the sky in an airplane. People were screaming. Were we going to die? I smelt something like gasoline. I was terrified. "Everyone put on your floatation device located under your seat. I see a body of water I'm going to try to steer us into," the captain yelled from the cockpit now that the speakers had died. "I'm going to count to 3. On three take the biggest breath you can and swim to the nearest exit. 1..., 2..., 3!!!"

I pulled myself out of the dirty "lake". I looked around, dry, boring desert. It was absolutely silent except for some people coughing. The so called lake was the only water in sight, and now there was a plane in it! I looked around me again; there were only 9 people on shore. I dove back in to see if I could save anyone. Once under water I looked around for some people three children around the age of seven were struggling to get to the surface. I swam down to them, grabbed them and pulled them to the surface. We came out from the water gasping for air as the sun blinded our eyes. The kids and I coughed.

"I'm going back under", I said to the kids. Without waiting for a response I dove back in. there was stuff floating all around me. The lake had gotten very murky and it was hard to see. I was able to make out only one more person. I raced over to them. Unconscious, but their heart was still beating. I tried to pull them up. I had to really work. Finally I got to the surface. I took a deep breath. My head hurt from being without air for so long. Out of all of us survivors there was only 14, there had been a full plane in the beginning.

The next day was really hot. We all stunk too from sweating so much. We hiked for a really long time. I wanted to call my family to tell them I was okay. I was heading to London to visit them. They were now probably worried sick.

We kept hiking for what seemed like was forever. Was I going to die of dehydration or hunger? "Yay!" one on of the children squealed with a twinkle in their eye. "Look there!" they added. It was a road! A weather beaten road that probably hadn't been driven on for years, but to me it was gold. We sat down and waited for a vehicle to come by.

It became dark, than light and dark again. "That's it! It's hopeless! We're all going to die out here in the middle of the desert all dried up like prunes! I'm leaving!" one of the survivors said. A few hours passed than I heard a roar. Almost like a car engine. We all jumped up and waved our hands around. I saw a red pickup coming our way. They drove right on past us. Then slammed on their breaks and came back towards us in reverse. A young blond woman wearing cowboy boots and a cowboy hat stepped out of the pickup truck.

"Why y'all out here on foot?" She asked through a thick southern accent

"Plane crash", we all said at the same time.

"oh boy!" she said not knowing whether to believe us or not. "Well ya' need a ride so why don't y'all hop right in! Not all of ya' will be able to sit up in the cab so some of ya' will have to sit in the bed, but hold on! Ooh! I need to introduce myself! Names Cathy!" Cathy said.

"Thank you so much," we said in harmony. I sat in back with most of the adults when the kids sat in the cab. It was a tight fit but we made do. Cathy was a bad driver so it was a little

scary.

"Where were y'all heading when that plane of yours crashed?" Cathy asked.

"London," the children said. "Our parents were taking us there for vacation when the plane crashed. Now they aren't with us anymore," the said through tears.

"bless your hearts. well im not heading to London but ill drop you off at the bus stop," cathy said.

"thank you so much" one of the people in the cab said. "But we don't have any money to get anywhere with."

"Don't worry I'll give you some cathy said.

A few hours passed and Cathy dropped us off at the bus stop. She handed us each $20. "Cathy you're getting rid of $260! We should be paying you!" I said.

"Don't worry," she said then sped off.

We were going to take a ship over to England. We adults were able to get some money from ATM machines. The kids had family there that they were going to live with.

We got on the boat. A few daysv passed. Then the worst message came over the speakers.

"Everyone stay calm. We've crashed into something and there is a hole. But nothing to worry about we're only sinking at a rate of 3 inches per minute" Then the message was over. Not again I thought to myself.
