Lighter than a feather, darker than a shadow, and softer than silence…

Sebastian glided through the silent night sky like a phantom’s shadow, imperceptibly alighting on the rooftops, lining the darkened alleyway.  The night was dark and damp from the hazy fog, but something else in the atmosphere gave off an unsettling eeriness.  It took a lot to unnerve a demon, and even more to remove him, even for a moment, from his master’s side.

He had decided to follow two cloaked figures, one in black, and the other, taller, in a deep crimson.  Something about them had an unearthly affect, and they were certainly out of place for an ordinary human.

At the central, most remote area of the alleyway, they stopped.  Sebastian paid closer attention to their words and actions as the black figure kneelt down and spoke.

“No one can find us here, and this should suit our needs perfectly, master.  You should-“

The stranger, a woman, judging by her voice, was cut off by the red figure who raised a hand, and slowly turned toward the demon’s hiding place.  She too was clearly a woman, wearing a black and red dress, neatly torn in places, presumably to allow freedom of movement.

“We’re not alone, there’s someone watching us” she stated, calmly but with a clearly foreboding tint.

How could she have sensed him?

                Would they be the enemy?

Sebastian caught the glint of two neatly sharpened daggers, firmly held in each hand, perfectly prepared to launch into the demon’s hiding place.

In preparation for a fight that he was sure to win, he sailed down from the rooftop, perhaps he could slyly capture them.  But before his moment’s flight ended, eyes, piercing blue, and brutal red met his own, and he was hit at immense speed, knocked from a graceful glide, and sent plummeting to the ground.
