Portia POV
I finish changing back into my clothes and I slip my shoes on. I grab my backpack and walk out into the gym and wait for the bell to ring. I hear a few people come out of the locker room, so I turn to look and one of them is Ellen. I look at her and smile, and she smiles back. She walks up to me and stands next to me. "So what class do you have next?" I ask her. "World Cultures. You?" "Geography." "Lets just hope we have more classes together." I pray. "I hope so too." More girls come out of the locker room and walk past us. As they're walking by, one of them hits Ellen's shoulder on porpoise. "Oops!" They say, and then the entire group starts laughing. Ellen acts like nothing happened, but I stare at the girl as she continues to walk. I turn and look back at Ellen and she just rolls her eyes. The bell rings, and we both walk out of the gym. I go straight and Ellen goes left. "See you later on today, hopefully." I say down the hall. "Same." She says back. I continue to walk down the hall and I'm behind the group of girls that hit Ellen. I speed up to get right behind the girl that hit her, and I "accidentally" step on her shoe. I dart to the side of the hall, and the girl looks behind her. No one was there so she looked confused. I continue walking and the group of girls go up the stairs, and I turn right to go down the hall. I'm looking on both sides of the hall for the geography classroom, and I finally find it. I walk in and I was pretty much the last person to get there. Everyone looks at me and I just find an empty seat and pray to Jesus this class doesn't have assigned seats. I sit down and put my backpack in the basket under the chair. The bell rings and the teacher closes the door, steps up to the front of the room and scans everyone. When she gets to me she wrinkles her face in confusion. "I'm the new student." I tell her. "Ooh that's right!" She clears her throat and motions for me to go up there. I get up and walk to the front of the room. "Attention class, attention please. We have a new student! Tell us a little about yourself." "My name is Portia and I recently moved here from Australia." "Hello Portia." The class greets me all at once, with a bored tone. "It's nice to meet you Portia." The teacher tells me. I walk back to my seat and plop down in it. The teacher takes attendance and then explains what we're doing today. She passes out the paper while telling us. "Alright class, today you will be doing worksheets about the continent we have been learning about. Australia." She says turning to look at me. "You will partner up with one person and complete the worksheet for a grade. The worksheet has facts about what we've learned about Australia. It should be pretty easy. Any questions?" No one raises their hand. "Alright, partner up and get working." I take out a pencil and turn to look for someone. Everyone just turned to the person next to them, so I turned to my left and that person was taken. I turned to my right and there was a girl looking at me. "I got the best partner for this." She says, smiling. I nod my head. "I'm Gabriella, but you can just call me Gabby." "Hi Gabby." I say. "So we're partners I guess." "I assume so." She replies. "Lets get started then." I say, then reading the first question. "How many languages are spoken in Australia?" I read the answer choices. "Five, thirty-two, two-hundred and twenty-five, four-hundred and fifty-seven." I know what the answer is, but I want to see if Gabby knows. "What do you think the answer is?" I ask her. "I don't know, thirty-two?" She asks in a questionable tone. "Nope! Two-hundred and twenty-five!" "That's a lot of languages." "I know!' We both circle C. We keep flip flopping of who reads each time, until we get to the written answer part. The teacher starts walking around and seeing where everyone is, everyone is around question eight while we're on question fourteen. The teacher walks over and says, "Good cooperation, ladies!' I read the written response question, "Why was the Constitution of Australia made?" "Because the Constitution of America existed and Australia wanted to copy it." Gabby immediately responds. I laugh. "That works too." I start writing the answer and Gabby copies off of me. We're done with the paper so we raise our hands. The teacher comes over and collects it, and then tells us we can talk to each other quietly. I turn to face Gabby and she has her hands in a Rock Paper Scissors position. I put my hand in the same position and we both pound our fist against our hand three times and then choose one. I choose scissors and Gabby chooses paper. "Aha, gotcha!" I say. She laughs, "No fair!" We do it again, I choose rock and she chooses scissors. "Dang it!" She whines. Everyone is now just starting to get done with their paper, so we play Rock Paper Scissors a few more times. The bell rings. "Nice meeting you, Gabby!" "You too, Portia!" I hear screamed at me as I walk out the door. The next class I have is my elective which is drama class. It's right down the hall, so I walk down the hall and walk into drama class. The teacher is sitting at her desk and I'm the first person to walk in. I sit at a random seat and the teacher doesn't say anything. I watch at the door for people to walk in, and a lot of kids do. Then Ellen walks in. "Hey Ellen!" I shout, tapping the seat next to me. She sees me and rushes over to sit next to me. "Ooh, Gayo has the new kid falling for her!" Some boy shouts. Me and Ellen both immediately turn and look at each other with confused wrinkled faces. We both turn back and look at the boy, and I say, "So?" "So you're also a lesbian!" "So what if I am?" Ellen turns and looks at me as if I just told the weirdest joke she's ever heard. "So she did fall for Gayo!" Another boy says. He walks over to us and pats Ellen on the shoulder. "Congratulations." He says, then flicks her neck. She stares at him with narrow eyes. The late bell rings and everyone sits down. The teacher walks up to the front of the room. "Okay class, today we will be making a miniature movie set."
