The next week on Berk was spent getting the other Vikings used to dragons. I loved being back on Berk, though I was sometimes homesick for the nest. I met up with the other teens the first day of the second week. after me and mom arrived back. Astrid said she was going to gather them in the cove, so i went there first and waited. Before long I heard twigs snapping and arguing. Astrid hopped over a rock and into the cove. She took advantage of the time it took for the others to get over to peck my cheek affectionately. Fishlegs got over first. He landed on his back with an oof. Then the twins hopped nimbly over to the other side. Then Snotlout came over. He used Fishlegs as a footstool. Tuff dusted himself off. "Okay, we came all the way out here to see Hiccup, where is he?" He gestured to me. "And who's that?" Astrid rolled her eyes. "That IS Hiccup you muttonhead." I waved shyly and gave a sheepish grin. "Hi." Snotlout sauntered over. "No way this is that little runt." Before I could say anything Astird punched his jawbone. Ruff was staring at me. "Whoaaa. What happened? You were, like, this big." She held her hands out to about the size of a Terrible Terror. I ran a hand through my hair. "Uhh, I grew?" She nodded. "Ohh. Yeah, that makes sense." Fishlegs smiled. "We're so glad your alive Hiccup. I can't wait to hear about your dragon nest!" I blushed. "Actually, it's mom's nest. She's the one who invited me to go live with her." Snotlout crossed his arms over his chest. "So, in other words, your a crazy feral dragon man?" Astrid held up a fist. "Snotlout..." She said, with a bit of a warning tone. I held out my hand. "It's alright." He circled me. "Huh. Funny. You were such a runty little pipsqueak. What in Thor's name happened?" I fiddled with my belt. "I told you. It's been three years. I. Have. Grown." He scoffed. "I know you've grown. I just didn't know that a little hiccup could shoot up like a weed. You were a RUNT. Now you've got shoulders, a jawline, a bit of a stubble, your TALL..." Fishlegs snickered. "I think he's taller than you Snotlout." He shook his head. "No way." I grinned mischievously. "Well then, let's find out, shall we?" I stood directly in front of him and placed my hand on the top of my head and slid it forward evenly. It hit the top of his helmet. He cackled. "Ha! I told you." I shook my head. "Not so fast. Take off your helmet." His face fell, but he complied. I stood in front of him again and slid my hand from my head to his. This time it was a good inch above his scalp. Tuff crowed. "Oho! Crash and BURN!" Snotlout crammed his helmet back over his hair and glared at Tuff murderously. "Stuff it Tuff!" He pointed a finger at me. "This is NOT over!" I held my hands up. "Your gonna beat me up for growing?!" He snarled at me. "Don't make it sound stupid!" Astrid got up in his face. "You lay a finger on him and I'll flatten you head with a war hammer!" He glared at her before walking off in Tuff's direction. She smiled up at me. I kissed her cheek in thanks. I mom always told me I was brave, and it was true I was a daredevil, but I was no fighter. Snotlout would crush me. I looked up at the sky longingly. Astrid smiled. "Go ahead." I looked back down. "What?" She shoved me. "Go. I know you miss the sky. Go and fly, we'll be fine." I beamed at her gratefully. "Thank you Astrid." I climbed up a large boulder and let out a high pitched whistle. Snotlout covered his ears. "What was that?" Just then Toothless roared in return and flew into the cove. He glided past me, and I jumped off of the boulder into his back. We flew along the ground for a moment, and I laughed at the other teen's shocked expressions. All except Astrid that is. Toothless shot up towards the sky, and I leaned forward, cheering in excitement.
