Toothless shot up towards the sky, and I leaned forward, cheering in excitement. That afternoon I was walking through the village when someone grabbed my hand and pulled me behind a house. Astrid. She and the other teens had my back to a wall and were staring me down. I rubbed my shoulder, which had nearly popped out of place when she pulled me back. "What was that for?!" She leaned on her axe handle. "Will you teach us how to ride dragons?" I rolled  my eyes. "You couldn't have just, I don't know, ASKED he that instead of abducting me?!"  Snotlout shrugged. "What's the fun in that?" I scowled at him. Astrid put a hand on my shoulder. "Please Hiccup?" I grinned. "You didn't actually think I was gonna say no did you?" The other teens let out a series of 'yeses' and fist bumps. Astrid lunged forward and kissed me. We all headed down to the arena. Once we were there I whistled for Toothless, and he bounded into the area. I opened the cages, and the other dragons cautiously walked out. I helped Astrid first. I led her up to a deadly nadder and gently took her wrist. "You need to let the dragon know you're a friend. By holding your hand out, you show that your not a threat." I gently held out Astrid's hand. The nadder slowly came up and sniffed it cautiously. Then she squaked and touched her snout to it. I let go, and Astrid cautiously put her other hand on the dragon, who purred and nuzzled up to her. Astrid laughed. "Hey, girl!" While she got to know her dragon, I turned my attention to Snotlout. I grabbed his arm and pulled him in front of a Monstrous Nightmare. I pulled out his wrist, and he tried to jerk it back. "Whoa! Hey! What are you doing?!" I patted his shoulder. "It's okay. It's okay." I pulled his wrist back out, and the nightmare's pupils dilated and he touched his nose to it just under his horn. Snotlout's expression  slowly turned to wonder and excitement. Seeing that they were getting along, I headed over to the Zippleback. I gestured to Ruff and Tuff. "Hey, Ruff, Tuff, over here." They ran up and came to a stop next to me. Tuff pointed to a head. "I want the right!" Ruff nodded. "Good. I wanted the left." I placed each of them in front of their head. "Okay, now, to show you're not a threat, slowly hold out your hand and look away." They complied, and the Zippleback heads looked at each other in confusion for a second before turning back to the twins. They leaned forward and sniffed their hands before touching them. Tuff grinned widely. "Alright!!" Fishlegs had already imprinted on his Gronkle, so I stood in front of the group. "Okay! You all have your mounts, so let's try flying." I called Toothless over. "Okay, now gently climb on, no sudden moves." I said, doing the same. Once everyone was on their dragon I smiled. "Okay, now gently press their sides with your heels and lean forward." I demonstrated, and they all complied. We were all in the air. I beamed. "Good job! Now, dragons understand English, so tell them what you want them to do, and they'll do it." They did as they were told, and we're soon flying around the arena. By the end of the day they were all flying like pros. When the sun set I headed home. Mom was sitting by the fire. She liked up. "Evening son. Have a nice day?" I nodded and sat next to her. "Great. I taught the teens how to fly." She ruffled my hair. "You're such a nice person Hiccup." I smiled. "Thanks mom." Dad walked in the door. He smiled at me. "Busy today son? The twins are going crazy on that Zippleback."
