"Busy today son? The twins are going crazy on that Zippleback." We all laughed. Toothless pushed his head under my hand. I scratched him under the chin. Dad shook his head. "The devils never gonna leave your side, is he?" I shook my head. "Never." I said proudly. He laughed. Mom smiled. "Y'know Stoick, you could use your own mount." I jerked my head up and beamed. "Yeah! Dad, that would be awesome!" He chuckled and shook his head. "As the chief of Berk I do things the Viking way, not the dragon way." I leaned forward. "Aw, come on dad!" He shook his head again. "No Hiccup. I'll leave flying to you and your mother." Mom toyed with one of her braids. "That reminds me... Hiccup." I turned my attention to her. "Yeah mom?" She stared at me. "Son, I've come to the conclusion that... Maybe..." I leaned toward her. "Yes?" She exchanged a glance with dad, who nodded. She looked back at me. "Hiccup, I was thinking of moving here. Away from the nest." I drew in a sharp breath. Before I could say anything mom continued. "Berk needs you Hiccup. Your father needs an heir. And I've seen how happy you are with the other teens. It's so good to see you getting along so well with people your age. And I want to live with people now. It's best for both of us, son." Dad smiled at me. "We could be a family Hiccup. All of us." Mom took my hands. "And Gobber told me he could use you help in the forge again. Hiccup, our life is here. What do you say?" They were both silent. We all were. Then I started to laugh. Mom looked surprised. I kept laughing and wiped my eyes. "Did you actually think I was going to say no?" All of the worry melted off her face and was replaced with amusement and happiness. Dad laughed and clapped my shoulder. "That's my boy!" He wrapped me in a bear hug. "Ohh dad, I can't breath...." He released me, and I gasped for air. Mom put a hand on my shoulder. "We're flying back tomorrow to get our things." I looked up at her. "Can we bring Astrid? She just learned to fly a nadder, and she was fascinated when I told her about the nest." Mom nodded. I beamed and hugged her. "Thanks mom! Can I go tell her?" She laughed and nodded again. I ran out the door with Toothless. Outside, I hopped on and we flew to Astrid's house. I knocked on the door. Her father answered it. "Evening Mr. Hofferson. May I see Astrid?" Before he could answer it she walked up behind him. "What is it Hiccup?" I grabbed her hand and pulled her outside. Mr. Hofferson closed the door. "What's wrong?" I smiled at her. "Me and mom are moving back here." She gasped and ran into my arms. "Hiccup!" I laughed. She threw her arms around my neck and kissed me. I smiled against her lips and put my hands on the back of her head. She pulled away and stared at me." I smiled. "You'll love what I have to say next." "What?" I beamed at her. "Mom says you can fly with us to the nest tomorrow." She covered her mouth with her hands, her eyes shining. "Oh Hiccup..." She breathed. She lunged forward and kissed me again.
