We left, and walked back to the house. Mom and dad had started dinner. We helped, and then we all sat around the fire. Dad turned is attention to me. "So Hiccup, is there anything else you'd like to show us?" I nodded. "Yes, but it can wait till tomorrow." Toothless poked his head in between me and Astrid, and we both placed a hand on his head, inadvertently causing our fingers to touch. We met eyes for a second and blushed before looking away. Dad sighed. "Oh for Thor's sake, enough you two!" I raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean dad?" Mom leaned forward. "We can see how you two are together." Astrid glanced over at me for a split second. "What are you talking about?" Dad threw his hands up. "Just accept it! Your obviously head over heels for her son!" Mom patted his shoulder. "So stop avoiding it and just accept it! You don't meet a lass like this every day Hiccup." I blushed and looked over at Astrid. Our eyes met again. I glanced at mom. She was smiling. I took a deep breath and awkwardly put an arm around Astrid. She looked surprised, but also like she was sort of expecting it. Hoping for it maybe. I pulled her closer, and she smiled and leaned up against my chest. I looked up at mom and dad. Dad sighed. "It's about time." I shot him a look. Mom just watched us. That night I prepared for a final night at the nest. I took some of the leather off my bed and laid it on the floor next to mine. "You can sleep here Astrid." She smiled and kissed my cheek. "Thanks Hiccup." She sat down, and I took off my armor and pulled my shirt over my head. When it was off I noticed Astrid staring at me. "What?" She snapped out of it. "Nothing." I grinned mischievously. "Are you checking me out?" She scoffed. "Pfft.. No..." She punched arm. "You mention this to no one." I laughed and rubbed my arm. "Yes milady." Toothless walked up and curled up at the foot of my bed. I petted the top of his head. "Night bud. Rest well. We've got a long way to go tomorrow." He purred and nuzzled my hand. Mom came over and kissed my cheek. "See you in the morning son." I smiled. "Night mom." I laid down and closed my eyes. I thought back to the day I left Berk, so many years ago. I was young, and I was confused. I thought about my first night at the nest. Now, three years later, it was my last. I had come so far. I smiled, and fell asleep. Later that night I was woken up when someone shook my shoulder. "Hiccup?" I opened my eyes. A slim silhouette was standing over me. "Astrid?" She hugged her shoulders. "I can't sleep." I felt bad. I scooted over to the side and patted the bed. "You can sleep with me." She crawled in and laid down. I adjusted the leather so it covered her, and I laid back down. I turned on my side and faced the wall, trying to fall back asleep. Then I felt the blankets shift and Astrid curled up against my back. I smiled, and fell asleep.
