Born in the Ghetto, born in a small town or even a village. Poverty stricken, all you see is chaos, conflict, a battle for scarce resources. You learn to live from hand to mouth. You are told that this is where you belong. It is where you life starts and will probably end. All of these are the lies that you have been told by people who were told the same things by their parents and elder relatives. You beat the system because it doesn't care about you. You take what you can get, you live to survive. You would want to see pass the limits of your surroundings but the walls in your mind, constructed by incessant chatter of despair and wanton hopelessness will not allow you to see or even dream beyond!

Lies! Lies! Lies! They are are lies, these limits, these walls, they are all a facade. The truth is ultimately what you choose to believe. It is all a mind thing! How can it be a mind thing is all you see around you is poverty and hopelessness. Abuse of the physical and drug kind. You get high everyday on despair. You would like to become a professional, an electrician, a landscaper, a doctor, a pharmacist, a lawyer, a singer, an actress, but all you hear is "people like is, we hussle, we survive". Every day you get told or here someone being told that the light at the end of the tunnel only belongs to people born in privileged circumstances. Ever stopped to ask who created that rule? Ever asked them to prove to you that if you want to make something of yourself, though it might be harder than the guy with the thrust fund and may take a bit longer, it is still possibility. Because many times that is all you really want- possibility- then you can work on finding the opportunity. Stop making people tell you what you can and cannot do based on what side of town you born! It makes not sense! Yes it may be harder, but tell me what is there that is worth having that comes easily? You will face obstacles, you will face challenges, you will want to give up. You will ask who am I to dream big being so small? The more relevant question really is who are you not to dream big? Who gave you the right to doubt yourself? Who gave you the right to minimize you potential? Who told you that success was only made for one group of people? Chances are you did all of those things, and if you can psych yourself out of succeeding, then you can psych yourself into greatness! Never underestimate the power of self motivation.

So you decided that you are going to escape the walls of your discouraging environment. You have won the most important battle in this war, because to make it you first have to believe it is possible. You keep your dreams relevant by working hard at them, by staying that extra hour even though you are tired, by surrendering your pride and learning to ask for help, by always seeking out opportunities. You know you do not have the financial backing, you don't have a fat bank account, but what you have is drive and tenacity. You know what you want and pride will not get in your way, neither will snobbish coworkers, nor will elitist haters. When you are steadfast on your goals the wind blows and you don't feel a chill.

For people born in less than privileged situation it is an uphill battle, but it is not an impossible one! The tunnel is dark, it is scary, sometimes you can't even find your own self, but it is that light at the end of the tunnel that is your dream that ought to keep you going...
