When mama told me we were moving to Canada, my first instinct was to go to my room, throw a temper tantrum, and cry all night.
"Opa is not well" she told me "We must go live with him."
"Why not just visit? Why do we have to live there?" I had asked her. Her face was sad and her wrinkles were very visible. "We must go live with him" she repeats. "But that's not fair!" I yell at her "It should be my choice too! I have friends here and I think a boy likes me! You can't just swipe my life out from under me!" I run to my room and cry. I'm not exaggerating, am I? She can't MAKE me move. She can't MAKE me leave my life behind.
Before I know what's happening, mama and I are in the seats of an airplane about to leave for Canada. I guess she CAN make me leave my life behind.
