'You know I was coming over to put you in the field, but if you think this is so stupid you should just go' Oliver said with a deadly gaze on Rey 'Quidditch is a team sport and everyone in the team plays a crucial part, even the water girl. If you can't understand that you're not fit for this team.' Oliver walked away without even giving Rey a chance to respond.
The selection was over and Rey was still sitting on her bench looking at the rest who were standing on the field waiting for the results of the selection. 'The new chaser in the base is Peter Quivell!' Cheers of joy erupted from the field and tribune. But Rey sat there silently knowing that she'll probably never play in the team because the captain would never select her as a base chaser. The team already had 3 amazing chasers with Alicia, Angelina (two 4th years) and now Peter. 'The substitute chasers are Ivo Clay and Will Tuft, the substitute beaters are Ellis Ross and Gary Hobday and the substitute keeper is Edward Ogden' Oliver announced 'To the rest of you, well played and I hope to see you at next years selections.'
The field and the tribune were empty now and most of them went to the three broomsticks to celebrate the new team members but Rey felt like shit. 'I ruined my bloody dream' she mumbled in herself while she was kicking the bench in frustration 'I will never make the team and never become a professional quidditch player. The only option I have left is to transfer to Durmstrang or something like that. I can even change my name and go undercover as a Ravenclaw student. Wow no, with these stupid solutions I can never be a Ravenclaw.' Suddenly something caught Rey's eye, there was still a chest on the field. She walked over it and saw that it was the chest with the 4 quidditch balls in it. She picked up the quaffle 'Well I'm waisting my time anyway so let's play some solo quidditch.'
She threw the ball up for herself and flew to it on Arrow. 'Fawley catches the quaffle and she is unstoppable!' She commented as if she was in a real game 'A Slytherin chaser is trying to knock her of her broom but Fawley dodges it. She dives down avoiding the beaters and throws the ball towards the hoops and she scores! The crowd is going crazy.' Rey laughed at her own silly comments 'I think I can still become a commentator if I don't get to play' Someone was clapping on the tribune. 'Felice is that you?' Rey shouted but she could see that the person was way to tall to be Felice. Rey flew towards the clapping and saw to her surprise that is was McGonagall. 'That was a nice little game you had there' McGonagall said with an honest voice 'You're really fast. You should try out for Gryffindor.' Rey stepped of her broomstick onto the tribune 'Well mam I did try out in fact but the captain and I sort of clashed and I ruined my shot at making the team.' 'Then I will make Oliver change his mind about you. The boy normally never turns down a good player.' McGonagall said to Rey 'But mam? He hates me.' Rey said in an attempt to convince her 'No buts miss Fawley' McGonagall was determined and strode off leaving a confused Rey behind.
Later on Rey was eating dinner with Felice and Thom her two best friends who were also both in Gryffindor. Felice was a small girl with glasses and long straight ginger hair. She was very good with transfiguration and therefore one of McGonagall's favourite students. Thom on the other hand was really tall and had dirty blond hair that was slicked to the side with a little too much gel. He was the coolest guy she ever met and always knew how to cheer people up. Rey loved being around her friends and because of them she was a lot happier already. 'So I'm sorry I couldn't watch your selection Rey I still had a lot of studying to do for my potions class. But miss McGonagall told me that you did great!' Felice said while she was stuffing her mouth with a corned beef sandwich. 'Wait what? She didn't even really see me play and on top of that the selection is already definite, so I won't play this year.' Rey said while she was moving her salad around with her fork in frustration at those last words. 'Hey Oliver is there something you need?' Thom said to Oliver who was standing behind Rey looking at the three. 'Yeah I need to speak to you in private Fawley' Oliver said strictly as if she was in trouble 'what do you need Wood? Can't you see I'm busy eating' Rey sniffed at Oliver 'Since when became moving food on a plate eating?' Oliver snapped at her. Rey was getting more frustrated right now and really wanted to throw her salad at him but Thom's kick against her leg brought her back to her senses. Rey sighted softly 'Alright prick, I'll come'
They walked out of the dining hall into the courtyard 'I'll try to make it as fast as possible because you'll probably want to continue your progress of moving around food on a plate' Oliver commented with a silly smirk on his face 'McGonagall has put you in the team.' Rey stopped walking 'What...? So that means I'm in the team?' 'Yep' Oliver said somewhat against his will 'She's the head of Gryffindor and if she really wants a player in the team than she can make that happen.' Rey was overjoyed but then she thought of what happened today and went silent for a while and than said simply 'I'm sorry and...thanks.' She looked deep into Olivers deep brown eyes to show that she meant it. Oliver looked confused because that was the last thing he expected to hear. He looked back briefly and then suddenly turned his head away from her 'You'll start tomorrow in the game against Hufflepuff as a substitute for Alicia who is injured.' He walked away back into the dining hall. Rey looked at the tall athletic captain and couldn't help but think that he might not be such a prick after all.
