Rejected? Dream On!

Two things are certain in life mistakes and judgements! You will make a mistake, as it is the human thing. People will use that mistake to judge you! If you think of every time you missed the mark, you did something embarrassing. All you got from most people was first judgement, and if you are luck understanding. What do you do though when you have screwed up, you made a big mistake, you got pregnant too young because you were a bit too adventurous as a teenager, maybe you were rebellious. Maybe have hung out with the wrong crowd and got into trouble, maybe even got a record. You may have skipped class and ended up failing school. Whoever you are, wherever you are right now, whatever less than pride - worthy things you have done, you have dreams and they are still relevant! You may have been judged, told that you are a menace to society. Told that your life is over! It is all a lie! Society's judgement, your mom's judgement, your so-called friend's judgement is irrelevant. The only relevant thing is what you think about yourself and what you want to be. No, you cannot change the past, and why would you, if it has taught you one thing is that the way you travelling before was the wrong way. Sometimes we need to travel the wrong way to find out way. It may be harder, but if it is your reality it doesn't have to be your life sentence.

What you need to do to pull through is to talk to yourself (no it is not crazy)! Admit that you have made less than ideal choices. Admit to yourself that though you may have entered the correct path later than your colleagues the important thing is that you have entered. Look at you baby, look at yourself and tell both of them that yesterday is not your today and today will not be your tomorrow. Your dreams are yours and there is no rat race to achieve them. The only thing that matter is that you do. If it takes you an extra year, maybe even a moment of ridicule to get that high school diploma or certificate you are going to do it, for you and your child, not for anyone else. Not for the naysayers, not for the people who condemned you but for you. Ultimately when the dust settles and the night gets cold it will only be you and your dreams, no matter who is sleeping next to you. You get one life to live, you and you alone can effectively live it. Chase your dreams at the pace you can, but by all means please chase them.

We all start at different moments in our lives, but the important thing is that we start. We may slip up, make undesirable choices, but the moment we realize that it is up to us and us alone to ensure that our dreams are achieved, is the moment we give ourselves the second chance maybe no one else cared to give us!
