And love is love is love is love is love is love is love is love.~Lin-Manuel Miranda
It was not often for her to be outside. An introvert, she preferred to stay inside, doodling late into the night and reading. She was more of an internet person than an outside person.
But the numbers on her wrist said she had to. She had to go outside if she wanted to meet her/him. Her soulmate. When she first heard of the reason she had a clock winding down on her wrist, she rolled her eye. Ridiculous, she thought, and she went about her day. Until she witnessed her friend meet her soulmate the exact moment her clock counted down.
She was upset, however. She was miserable. She didn't want to be with anyone else but him.
Her phone rang. "Hello?" She said.
"Hey!" He replied. "How's it going?"
She smiled. The sound of his voice made her feel better instantly, even though she felt guilty simultaneously. "Nothing. Haven't seen them yet." She had been talking to him for about a year now, and slowly, over their chatting and phone calls, she had fallen deeply for him, even if she had never seen him.
She found him to be the only person she could truly talk to, the only one who would understand how she felt regardless of the circumstances, yet he would never blindly take her side. In fact, she rarely agreed with him on anything.
"I know how it feels." He said. "Only a few more minutes left for me." She smiled, although her heart clenched in pain. "Cool. Same for me."
The timer on her wrist read: 00:05:30, slowly counting down.
"Can you imagine what she'll look like?" She asked him. "Do you have any ideas?"
"Hmm." He said, thinking. "I don't really know. I always imagined a girl, even though I know I could get a boy. I've seen her as just a little shorter than me, and she's quite like you, actually, Fiery, passionate, too smart for me, kind."
She blushed, even though he couldn't see her. "Well I pity the poor girl or boy who ends up with you." She teased.
"Thanks." He replied dryly. "So kind of you. How about you? What did you imagine he looks like?"
"I honestly have no clue. It could be a girl or a guy, although I am holding out for a guy. But I just want to meet him."
She turned the corner and a sudden gust of wind blew her hair back. She clutched tightly at the folds of her jacket, keeping herself warm.
"How much longer for you?" She asked.
"Only ten seconds left." He sounded excited, like child on Christmas morning.
"Great." She said, standing at the curb.
"I see her." He said. "Oh my god, I see her. She's beautiful."
"Wow. That's amazing." She said, as she felt her heart sinking and shattering into pieces. As much as as he had hoped it would be him, she knew the odds were incredibly unlikely.
She stepped onto the street, still clutching the phone tightly in her hand. Carelessly, she didn't look both ways. A large horn sounded her attention, and her head snapped to see a large truck, barreling towards her, full speed.
She was frozen, she couldn't move.
A hand enclosed around her wrist and yanked her back. She tumbled into the body at first, then let herself be pulled along, out of danger.
She clutched the stranger's body tightly, shivering from both fear and the cold. Once she had composed herself enough, she looked up into a pair of viridescent eyes, glittering like tidal pools in sea caves. The clock on her wrist beeped.
"What-who?" She stammered.
The boy put his phone to his ear. "Hello." He said, as his voice echoed from the phone pressed against her ear.
Heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy guys! So the weirdest thing happened yesterday. I was going to dance with my mom, and I was in the car, and all of a sudden, I was hit with about twenty or thirty fanfic ideas I want to do so badly. Don't worry, the surprise is still coming, I just have so many I want to do I don't know how I'm going to get them all out.
I hoped you liked this super short little oneshot. I thought it was a cute idea. I have more coming. This morning, I did my HUGE math final, and tomorrow, I've got my HUGE science final. After that, I'm all yours. Expect another update in a few days. I've got one I'm super excited for you to read. And the massive surprise is coming in about a week and a half!
