Maddie had a good life. She was the model middle class woman. She had a clothing shop that was the most popular in her town and she was happy. She never really worried that much about who she was going to marry. After all she was 18 and at the peak of her youth. But all of that changed yesterday night. The heir to the top company in America, the nobles, just sent out a notice. He was looking for mistresses. My mother was applaud. Apparently back when she was young no one was allowed to have a mistress no matter how powerful they were. But when I was about 5 the leader of the company proclaimed that he was not only allowed to have mistresses but can also give them ranks. the ranks went from level 5, being the lowest, to level 1 which is only second to the main wife. All of the unmarried woman were to compete to see who would become a mistress.

She sighed fixing a mannequin. She turned around at the sound of the door opening. "How dare you not greet the main wife of the heir to the nobles!" a woman that looked about my age shrieked. I quickly bowed my head. "My apologies my lady." I said. "No worries how can you recognize someone you just met?" she replied walking past me. I cringed at her haughty tone. Kendall Vertes hit it big when she met the Aiden Nobles at the young age of 14. Now she is 25 and they have been inseparable ever since. There was just one problem. She can't get pregnant hence the need for mistresses.

"I came to look around since everyone in this town recommends your shop. However these clothes tend to be quite showy." She said after fingering a crop top. "That's because I made these clothes for a flower that wants to seduce a butterfly." I replied with a slight smile. "In society we as women are taught that a guy must approach us first and if we approach first we are uppity. I make clothes for the women who aren't afraid to get what they want."

"How vulgar." she said looking at me as if I was a child that just proclaimed that I saw a unicorn. "It may be vulgar to you but this is how I view the world." I said getting a slight edge to my voice. She stared at me before leaving my shop.
