"Hurry Kate or you'll be late for school, which is never good for first impressions", my mom yelled from downstairs. "I'll be down in a sec", I shouted back.
I ran around my room looking for my black leather jacket. I just couldn't find the damn thing, not because I'm an untidy person it's just because we moved and all my stuff is still in boxes.
Finally I spotted it hanging out one of the boxes. I grabbed it then ran downstairs and met my mom's angry glare.
"What?", I asked her wondering what I did wrong. "It's not just you I'm worried about being late it's me as well", she said folding her arms. "If I loose this job there will be no one to pay for your school fees and we'll soon be drowning in debt", she added.
"I'm sorry mom, it won't happen again". She sighed then looked at me with slight sadness in her eyes. "I'm sorry too Kate, but your dad....". I cut her off, "There's no need to talk about dad, mom, we should get going we don't want to be late".
My mom soon returned to her happy self and we headed out the door.
The drive to the new school was not long and before I knew it I was walking through the gates of what I thought to be hell.
I walked through the metal gates and there on it was printed St.Harrison Academy.
I was greeted by a tall lady with a look of disgust on her face. I could tell she didn't like the way I had dressed because that's where her look was focusing on. I don't know why she wasn't pleased with what I was wearing, clearly she was having a wardrobe disaster of her own. I mean really?, who wears a long grey pencil skirt with a white frilly shirt and a maroon cardigan? Don't even get me started on her shoes, black, kind of boy school shoe looking, with a thick, not very high heels and she wore thin black stockings underneath it all.
I, on the other hand, had decided on a plain navy blue jeans, with a plain white T that complimented my body with my black leather jacket. My shoes were wolf-grey Jordans, everybody got over these shoes and thinks their old but I still love them. My hair was loose, straight with a bit of curls made by the wind.
"Kitana?", she asked me. "Yup that's me", I replied but she didn't look very pleased with the way I had just spoken to her.
"Follow me", she said turning on her heel and began walking, I followed.
We stopped outside a classroom when the lady turned to me and said, "This is your first class for the day". She handed me a piece of paper, " and these are the classes that follow and where they are located". She turned whipping her hair in the process and stomped off down the corridor.
I was left just standing there, with people walking past every which way.
I walked into my class but it was empty, well not completely empty.
There in the corner of the classroom sat a boy but not just a boy, a HOT one.
His hair was black and he wore all black too. His hair fell onto his face so perfectly and his lips slowly parted taking in air as he breathed. He had his head in his hands which put strain on his arms showing off his muscles.
I stood wide eyed and motionless but like a stupid idiot I some how lost my balance and fell onto a nearby table. He looked in my direction and glared at me for disturbing his peace and quietness and in that moment I saw his eyes. They were a beautiful green, which I did not expect, with a layer of dark green around them. "I'm so sorry", I managed to blurt out, "I'm new here". "Clearly", he said a bit harsh. His voice was low and husky and just made me want to shriek at how damn perfect this guy was. His expression softened after he saw me drop my head in sadness and shame, he had a look of pity now. "I'm really sorry I didn't mean to", I apologised again with my head down. "Nice to meet you Really Sorry, I'm Alec", he said trying to pull off an apologetic, friendly smile.I felt a little better after that but the moment didn't last forever. He was about to turn back to staring out the window when I said, "It's Kitana". "What is?", he asked a bit confused. "My name, its Kitana", "Like the blade?", he questioned. "Exactly", I replied smiling widely. "Cool name, I like it", he said giving me a handsome side smile which suited him much better than the last smile but also made me a bit weak at the knees.
The bell rang and the class was soon flooded with people. I hurried to take a spot near but not too close to Alec. A few minutes later the teacher walked in.
His first words were, "Goodmorning class, today we have a new student joining us", "Her name is Kitana and I hope you treat her well, would you like to stand Ms......?". "Blackwell", I said as I stood up, "Kitana Blackwell". I looked around the class as I said my name and got a few dirty looks from the girls sitting in one corner and a few wierd looks from the boys in the middle of the class. "Well thank you very much Ms Blackwell and we hope you enjoy your stay", the teacher said nodding in my direction.
I sat down a little red in the face from standing in front of all these people. I'm not really a people person and I'm very shy at times.
"Today we are going to be learning a new method on how to calculate distance", the teacher had started off.
I felt a chill going down my spine, like somebody was watching me. I turned to see who it was and it had turned out to be Alec but he eventually turned to focus his attention outside the window again. 'Strange', I thought to myself as a small smile crept onto my face.
