Captured Hearts

Chapter 5

I heard the sound of my dog barking and jolted up I looked around to see that I fell asleep in the living room. I sat up and rubbed my eyes and memories of the events that occurred last night flooded my mind. I stood up and went to check up on sky. When I opened the door I saw her sitting down on the bed petting dawn with a smile on her face. Seeing her smile made all my worries go away. I smiled and leaned on the door frame with my arms crossed.

"I see dawn has taken a liking to you"

She looked up and nodded. "how did I get here?"

I rolled my eyes. "I obviously brought you here. how you feeling?"

"I have a massive headache but overal im fine"

"So mind explaining to me what happened to you? You scared the shit out of me in the state you were in last night"

She sighed and nodded. "I was drinking"

"And?"

"That's it"

"Sky. I know you. Your not the type to drink. You were crying your heart out. What happened?" I said sternly.

She frowned. "Look I don't want to talk about it"

"Well your gonna have to. I can't help you if you won't let me. I'm worried about you"

"The bad boy is actually worried? Oh my god how much did I drink?"

I chuckled. "Yes. The bad boy is worried, now tell me what happened"

"Okay. The day you didn't show up to my performance, after the show....I took my sister for some ice cream at the twisted treat down the block........When we got our ice cream we sat on a bench across the street from it........ She went to go get napkins and when she came back there was a drunk driver........ and when she crossed the street...........she.........he.........the car........it.......it......it hit her" She started tearing up.

"When I ran to her......you couldn't even tell that she was a 12 year old little girl, that's how bad it was.....I knew she was dead. I knew.......that she-" She couldn't even finish her sentence. She bursted into tears.

I ran up to her and hugged her and tried to calm her down to the best of my ability. I had no idea that it was this serious. She saw her sister die right before her eyes. I can't even imagine how terrible that must've been. Especially on her. Knowing her, she must be blaming herself. She then sat up and wiped the tears off her face. It wasn't much help since the tears were continuous and in no time soon did it look like it would stop. She held her head low.

"Ever since that day....I skipped my classes......I started drinking.......I......I'm-"

"That's enough. Everything is going to be fine. You don't have to continue. I cant imagine how hard that must have been for you but... drinking?......isnt the answer sky. Im here for you. Im always here for you. If you keep this up...your gonna end up throwing everything you worked for away"

She nodded and buried her face in my chest and cried. I don't know what to do. I want to help but I just don't know how.
