It was refreshing to wake up without worrying about being late for school. That is the first thing Amber noticed as the light of early morning traveled into her room. She gave a happy sigh. No more worries about school or a job or anything. At least for right now, she reminded herself before sitting up. She still had to prepare for Senior year. Amber still entertained the idea of no more walking to school in the ice cold winter, and she wouldn't have to be on her sisters' cases to do their homework and whatnot. It was the first day of summer. Sure, today was a cleaning day, but they could have some fun with it.Come to think of it, Amber could already hear some alternative music coming from downstairs. Getting up, she pulled her hair into a bun and went to her dresser. The brunette hummed along to the song downstairs. She knew it, but she couldn't remember the name of it. With a shake of her head and a huff of a laugh, she focused her attention on her clothes. Well she was going to be cleaning today, so she threw on a painting shirt and a pair of Jean shorts.
Just to make her outfit look cuter, she pulled on some boots and a pair of denim suspenders. Once she felt ready for the day, Amber departed from her room. She shuddered slightly at the heat of the house. If it was hot outside, there was no reason to have the heat on inside. Moving over to the thermostat, she turned it off and began to open the windows. Two in the hallway, two in her room, and three in her youngest sister's room. That was just on the second floor of the house.
Amber approached her sister's door, opening it quietly. Of course, she was still asleep. The older girl gave a snort of laughter before moving to open the mint green curtains so light can invade the previously dim room. Behind her, a groan was heard as well as shuffling of fabric. With a look over her shoulder, she saw that Rosalie was now covering her face with a pale pink duvet. Eventually, there was a mumble from her, "Why do you hate me...?"
"I don't hate you. I just figured you'd enjoy me waking you up instead of the alternative," The taller girl opened up the windows and walked over to the bed. With a dramatic noise, she fell across it, earning a laugh from her younger sister. There was some movement under her, but Amber didn't move until she saw those little blue eyes pop up from over the blanket she'd been hiding behind. "Get up, dude. If we get our chores done early, I'll take you two out to the island."
After Amber got off of her and opened the other windows, she could hear Rosalie hurry to get up. Spending just a moment standing at the window, the older girl watched the island closest to their house. Once she felt her sister's presence next to her, she looked over to her. Softly, Rosalie spoke, "Do we have to take Lina? She's just going to be moping around and mean."
"Well, it would be rude of us to leave her here, and either way, she enjoys the island. Now go get dressed, I'm gonna go open the rest of the windows and start on breakfast, okay?" Amber ruffled her sister's hair, fingers almost getting caught in the knots of her bedhead.
"Okay! Can we have bacon and french toast?" There was that brilliant smile that graced Rosie's face. Getting Amber's fingers untangled from her hair, she hurried to get ready. Amber gave another sigh, feeling a wave of relief hit her shoulders for no reason.
Leaving Rosalie's room, Amber trotted downstairs. The music was louder now, and it was a new song. Following it, she was curious to what her other sister was up to. Lina was a strange one, that's for sure, but there wasn't anything wrong with being strange. Though, Amber would like a little bit of warning before coming downstairs to her sister's entire bedroom being in the living room. Walking over to the room that actually belonged to her sister, she leaned against the doorframe and just watched her for a few moments as she painted her wall.
Reaching over, Amber turned off the radio so she could talk to Lina, "Mind telling me what brought this on? I thought you liked the sunset design you did." Lina had a habit and a passion in painting on the walls of her room. Once, she did a water scene. Then a forest, and after that was an arctic scene complete with a polar bear. Last time was a sunset scene leading up to a dark sky with the moon on the ceiling around her ceiling fan.
