A short story:

I wasn't born human... When I was.. Born, I wasn't anything. Just a collective blood clod of muscle, bone, and literally every entity in the world.
My parents knew I wasn't human... They had to right, I mean they saw my ultrasound. Either way they disowned me as soon as I can out of the womb, or at least my mother did.
After that I just took the form of some rando' girl in the hospital, I did it while this man was carrying me in some tray. Not his arms... Some tray.
They of corse then knew what I was and the humans had no other reaction other then horror as I ran out of the hospital in someone else's skin.

After that I started to see the world outside of the hospital. More people, more things. It was pretty. I fell a lot in my new body (even in the hospital). And that led me to falling into a bush, and that led me into finding bugs for the first time. I loved them. I loved how different they were, and how colorful.
But before I could even bask in the full extent of them a woman found me.
She asked me something, but I didn't know how to react. I didn't have vocal cords because I didn't know they existed. Then again even if I did I don't know what she said either.
She then proceeded to pick me up and carry me to a police office, they had no clue who I was, nobody did. They put me on the news, and I guess the mother of this child's body knew I was the "thing" from the hospital and never said a word about it.

So, the girl who found me took me in. She turned out, not to be a supernatural herself, but know a lot about them. So she was chill with watching me turn into anything I want. Her name was Carol, and I thought that was beautiful.

The next couple of days went by and I started to learn more words. I shifted into her quite a lot and we both had a good laugh, that's right I learned how to laugh for the first time! I found out that if I turned into animals I could have their abilities, and if I turned into an object someone had to use like one. As well as if I am an object, I can't see, because objects dong have eyes. I could deal with these rules but soon enough I lurked I could change objects. So I could be an iron and give myself eyes.
It was fun.

Then fall came around, I had to change myself into an older kid; so carol let me look at pictures of random kids online.
I picked out blue eyes, brown pig tales, and white skin. I liked my other form, (Brown skin, curled black hair, and brown eyes.) but I wanted to change it up.
After I picked out what I looked like, carol told me I need to go to school. She told me schools tough but I'd figure it out, and soon enough I did.

The subjects were easy (I had people call me Ashly Tara for whatever reason) , and I enjoyed having somewhere to go... But nobody really talked to me. Yet again I never really said hello.
I mean I was fine with having lunch and rhesus to myself, I could look at bugs.
My favorites were the spiders. I LOVED shaping into them at home and wished I could do it everywhere. My teachers all sort of hated it, except my science teacher.
He was actually a pretty cool guy although I don't remember much about him, he was one of the only people I talked to... Until this one kid showed up.

He came to kindergarten when I was in 3ed grade. He had brown hair, blue eyes, and pale skin, just like me.
He seemed pretty normal and people talked to him just fine. I remember seeing him skip everywhere and behave extremely well in class. So... By the laws of elementary school, he was weird, just like me.
So people eventually stopped talking to him, and he stared sitting by the bushes too. He'd only sit there on the days I wouldn't and looked at the flowers, but one day when he got there before me... I sat there too.

He wasn't even awkward at all, he excitingly said "hello" and that his name is Josh. I said "Howdy" back and we instantly clicked. We read books together, swung on the swings together and did everything together! People said we were in love, and teased us for it too, even if I was four years older. Although the thing is, I didn't know what love was.
I asked Carol and she told me,
"Love is what you feel when two people are almost inseparable. When seeing them makes you happy, and not seeing them makes you sad. For example, I love you. And judging by that smile on your face... You love me too." She then kissed me on the forehead and fed me a sandwich. I will never forget it.

So I guess it turned out I did love Josh. I loved him with all of my being. I didn't exactly know what a heart was... The inside of my body was sort of just every element I didn't use.
Me and Josh grew up together and it turned out he lived only a couple houses away so I could visit him anytime I wanted. I decided then... I didn't wish to age without Josh. I got the the end of elementary school and told Carol I wanted to wait.
She lied to the school about us moving and I got to see Josh every single day.

We played dress up together and he'd always want us to be princesses together. It was fun and I enjoyed the brake off of school, until middle school. Middle school started and that's when I decided to go back. So I shifted into a pre-teen body. My hair was still brown, but now I kept it in a bun and my wardrobe has changed to band tees and sweat pants. I feel like on of the highlights of middle school though was finding out about the Internet. Carol had a computer but never let me use it, so the school computer in the library was always free.
I didn't have any websites to go to but I was more memorized by how it worked. How the mouse would move, how everything was just their when I pressed a button. Everything was just plain awesome!
And Josh loved to watch the expressions on my face.

Through the years I learned more about the human body and what it was like. Carol already told me about vocal cords so I was able to make those in my throat, but I never new about the rest. I chose I didn't want to really have much of the human body other then some blood, muscle, bone, and a brain of corse.
Then another thing that was added to my person was when I saw colored hair for the first time.
It was some girl in 8th grade with red streaks in her blonde hair. I found it amazing. I told Carol this and she said I could change my hair too while also give me the human process. I chose the color Blue.

By the time we got into high school Josh had admired my hair so much he wanted to dye his too, so he chose Pink as sort of a complement to my blue. But of corse kids tested him for it, although I guess my support for him was enough for him to keep it.
Another thing that happened in high school was that Carol let me use her computer to do research on the world. That, was amazing.

I soon fell in love with Internet and what the world had to offer. I found new bands, made new friends, and just had fun looking at the way it all worked.
It was good I had something to do because Josh got a job when he turned seventeen, and we couldn't hang out as much as we'd like to.
But Josh getting this job meant he could get money, and money meant collage. So he told me about how he was leaving after we graduate. This is when I decided to tell him.

"Hey Josh," I said to get his attention as we were at my house. "You know how some people have supernatural abilities?" He nodded and replied.
"Yeah, I've met a few." He grins.
"Well... I have powers too." I admitted looking at the floor the whole time. I expected him to react like the hospital did... But he didn't.
"Me too."
Josh turned out to be supernatural as well. He could control nature and that's why he's always found an intrust in the flowers and earth.
His parents never cared so he never learned much about it.
I told him about how I could shape shift and told him about the hospital, I didn't care how he reacted and even showed him a lot of what I've learned.
I felt understood for the second time, and it was as good as the first.

Josh informed me that the collage was actually FOR supernatural people and taught them about how the world would be for them. I thought that was the best thing in the world, but Carol didn't have the money... But she had an idea.
"What if you stayed with Josh in a form nobody would care to bother?" She suggested.
It was a good enough plan for me, so I did it. I would turn into a spider and stay tucked in his hair as I watched and learned. Josh would also teach me on the side while we shared a dorm, and his awkward roommate didn't mind.

But of corse before I went I had to say goodbye to Carol... She cried, and I cried. We hugged and didn't want to let go.. And for the first time I've lived with her, I called her Mom.
Of corse she really didn't want me to leave after that.
