Echoes of my dreams

Before I know what was happening, I woke up with a shout, " I DON'T WANNA RUN ANYMORE!" After a second or two of silence, she adjusted her eyes to see, " Mother? Natsu?" She saw her mother with a warm greeting smile.

" Waky, waky my princess!" I sat up and looked around quickly. She didn't see Haruki. She sighed in relief seeing that she was no longer in danger. " What...hmm...happened?" Her head was throbbing from pain. She felt the urge to scream her pain away, but she can't do that. Not when her own mother and best friend is doing everything they can for me.

Layla chuckled a soft soothing tone. " Natsu scared him off." Layla remembered his look of determination when it came to saving his nakama.

I saw my daughter with a quick flash of confusion and saw fear overcome her eyes. She hated that look for as a mother she felt like she failed. She started to run towards her, but a cold, firm tree root sprouted from the floor keeping me rooted to the spot.

Natsu was in the same position as me, but I didn't see fear or worry in his eyes. No, she saw something in his eyes that made her believe she still has a chance to save her precious princess. Natsu flared up into heat and burnt the tree roots into black, dirty ashes.

Haruki already had Lucy in his arms asleep. She looked lifeless and she prayed that she was still alive. When Haruki saw Natsu free and black ashes by his feet he only smirked and didn't seem alarmed at all.

"Well then I must be on my way! My work here is done!" He just dropped Lucy to the ground without concern. She felt movement around her feet. She saw the tree roots snaking their way back into the floor.

She ran over to her daughter as quick as possible. She kept thrashing around uncontrollibly. Haruki just simply jumped out the window and ran, but not from losing. no, more like from...winning? But what could have he possibly won when Lucy was obviosly alive.

Natsu ran to the window and threw his hands around from anger. " HEY, GET BACK HERE! I'M NOT FINISHED WITH YOU YET!" Layla smiled softly at Lucy's friend. He was a good friend. She chose wisely to keep him around for he cared for her. And that was well known in her heart.

" Natsu?" Natsu looked down at her and blinked. " What is it? Is Lucy alright!?" Natsu strided over to us and sat down by Lucy. " Thank you!" She whispered it just loudly enough for him to hear. He smiled a bright, but yet goofy and reasuring smile. " Sure! Anytime!"

She was caught up in the present now. She saw her daughter woken up from a dream, but it looked more like a nightmere occured to Lucy. She sighed, and just simply went to the kitchen to make dinner. " Oh! Natsu, Happy! Would you like to stay for dinner!?" "Yeah!" They perked up.

She kept on hearing those words over and over again like her head was a forever going echo. Run! Run! Run! Run! Run! Run! Run! Run! I heard a little voice inside my head chant.

She was starting to consider to do so, but shook her head vigoresly. No, Lucy! Your better than that! You're STRONGER than that!

She looked at her mother. She remembered when she watched her die right there in front of her eyes. Then a burning sensation of crying was scratching her throat, but she just gulped it back down.

This time she won't see her mom die again. She wants to spend those empty memories with her. She wants to create happy memories instead of being overflooded by grief and the day she died. Whats so special about my power? I wondered to myself. All I know is that my mom died on the same day the dragons disapeared, and that her power was getting stronger. She could feel the power pulse through her body, making her shiver with excitement.

The next morning Iwoke up, and went straight to the guild. I could still hear the taunting whispers, repeating over and over again.Run! Run! Run! I tried to supress the thoughts, and bury them further into my head, but they wouldn't stop. i felt like I was going insane. My heart poundind harder with each repeative word, sweat slithering down my skin, and whats scarier is that sometimes, I can feel a warm, mint breath breathing down my neck, but when I turn around, nobody was there.

My friends in the guild looked at me with worried expressions etched on them. They knew something was wrong, and I could tell that they wanted to know what was, but to be honest, I don't know, and I don;t think I want to know because I could feel deep down in my heart that it was something bad, and   I knew that this was only the beginining to the worst and possibly the most impossible fight we will ever experience.
