| she looked like a sunflower; her flair skirt waved around her knees like petals in the breeze and a soft yellow shirt hung down from her shoulders. there was always something about her that he couldn't quite put a finger on- was it the way her eyes smile before her lips or how she always wore polka dots only on tuesdays- he could never understand. she laughed, and it sounded like chimes and ringing bells.
all of a sudden he was back at the park- an umbrella in hand and the other fussing with his stubborn bed hair. when he first caught sight of her; walking down the path, a heavy book in hand and the other wrapped around the hand of a child, with a cap way too big for his head (he wondered if the child could even see where he was going, the cap was tipping all over the place. almost falling off, but never really).
and as he trailed behind, he realised that they were walking down the same path. she had her head lower, with eyes set on the book and the kid, slightly skipping next to her- doubt he could see anything either. it was after awhile that he began feel self conscious about himself but no matter how he tried, he couldn't help but look. and it wasn't like he had much choice but to look ahead either- it was like she was glowing on her own-
okay, he's officially a creep. he wondered if anyone noticed ; when she paused to turn around, lifting the huge cap off the boy who was facing her now and put it on her own head instead. well, it wasnt even sunny anyways, he thought and checked the time; the second before she started off again, she looked up, as did he and their eyes met
embarassed, he tried to turn away but before he did, something warm in him bloomed and he finally understood why the sky seemed so dark that day;
she smiled, and all the light were in her eyes |
