I rubbed my eyes angrily, being woken from my slumber as my alarm clock began it's usual obnoxious noise.
"God dammit! What--" I was cut off when I realized it wasn't my alarm clock, but my little idiot brother imitating it. "Isaac, what are you doing.." I calmly spoke as he seemed frightened by my outburst a second ago.
"Mom said to wake you up and you threw my toy out the window last time I plugged your alarm in.." His bottom lip trembled weakly, so I tugged at his shoulders and pulled him into bed with me.
"I'm sorry, I. You know I hate waking up early." I frowned at him using his nickname I creatively came up with when he was little. Isaac just turned 7 recently, and surprisingly this chubby blonde boy idolized me. He was my entire world. My mom and dad were rarely home so Isaac either stayed with me or one of his school friends. However, my mom has been home the last two days and has been making me drive him to school. She was going to be in California tomorrow, which meant she was leaving today, so I had to arrange plans for Isaac to stay somewhere.
"Did you eat already?" I asked, breaking a short solemn silence. He shook his head side to side and began to smile a little. "What?" I questioned, cocking my head to the side slightly. He giggled and whispered, "Mommy got donuts for us.. But they're on top of the fridge." He pouted at the fact he wasn't tall enough to get them on his own.
"Wellll-" I started, slowly kicking my legs off of the bed "I'll race you there!" I shouted as I jumped off the bed and out of my bedroom with Isaac whining behind me that his legs were too short. I hid behind a wall and waited for his little body to rush passed me, which wasn't very long before it happened. So I ran out behind him and picked him up by his hips and held him near the fridge, "See 'em?" I asked him and he nodded frantically as he grabbed the box and waited for me to set him down. I placed him on the counter where he sat the box beside him and took one of the chocolate glazed donuts out.
I licked my lips eyeing his donut and he snapped his body around, shielding his donut from me, "Get your own, Jessy!'' He yelled in between giggles as I hadn't stopped staring at him. I soon broke my stare and laughed with him as well, telling him to hurry with his breakfast so we could go.After about 10 minutes of his enjoying his simple donut, he got ready and we headed to the parking garage below the building. We live in a condo type place. He ran to my red Honda Civic and I clicked the 'unlock' button to let him in, as soon as I had he dived in.
" Why are you so spastic today?" I eyed my little brother, who seemed to be struggling to buckle himself, through the rearview mirror. He sighed and looked at me, his face basically pleading 'help'. I opened the back door and buckled him up, he spoke to me when I shut his door and opened the drivers and hopped in my own seat. "Well there's supposed to be a new kid, Jessy!" I smiled at his enthusiasm. "I love you, I." He smiled to himself and looked out the window as we began driving to his school. We pulled up to the building and were a few minutes early, which was fine with me, I was in no rush. However, Isaac was. He ran into the building without even looking through the parking lot, "Isaac!!" I barked at him and he immediately stopped and turned to look at me, knowing what he'd done. "Now you can come over here and hold my hand till we get to your class." I walked triumphantly over to him and held my hand out, which he stomped his foot before grabbing ahold of. "You have to be safe.. I don't know what I'd tell mom if you got hurt, I." He looked up at me and nodded. We entered his classroom soon and I looked around waving to a teacher as she smiled to me but didn't stop talking to a person in front of her. She had long curly blonde hair, and was holding hands with a thin, tan, brunette haired little boy. Isaac bolted over to the kid and tapped his shoulder, the other boy turned around and smiled at Isaac, and then tugged on the girls hand. She turned and looked at Isaac, in which he pointed to me and she looked back at me, I gave a faint wave and she shot me a smile. Her eyes were bold and loud and so so.. Blue.
Another minute or so passed and I figured it was my time to head out, so I said goodbye to Isaac and hugged him tightly before exiting the building. As I made it to my car, I pulled a pack of my cigarettes out and placed one between my lips, not lighting it since I was still on an elementary school campus. I started my car and sat there for a second before I heard a tapping on my window, scaring the shit out of me. I hesitantly rolled it down, realizing it was the girl from in the building, "hi.." She said lightly, I chuckled at her shy persona. "Hello." I said confidently, though this girl could probably destroy that barrier in a second, with anyone. "Um.. Was that your little boy in there?" She asked, I shook my head, "Not my kid. That's my baby brother." She smiled slightly, "The kid with me was my brother as well." She spoke. I nodded, wondering why she came over her to tell me that. "And.. I also wanted to ask if you could give me a lift.. To my place? I um.. I took the subway here and I really don't want to do that again.." I smirked and opened my door slowly, giving her time to back up.
I flicked my head to the direction of the passenger door, I began walking there ahead of her and opened the door so she could step in, which she did. She immediately buckled and looked a little timid, toying with strings on her frayed shirt.
I opened my door back up and ducked to get into the car, positioning myself comfortably.
"So what's your name?" I questioned, pulling out of the lot. "Sabrina." She stated, staring out the window. I huffed as she was making little attempt to keep conversation. "Well, Sabrina, I'm Jessica, Jessica Andrews." She nodded, a smile playing at the end of her pink lips. I stayed focused on the road as I rolled my window down and lit my cigarette when we stopped at a red light. She looked at me like I had two heads when the smoke flowed her direction. "Yes..?" I spoked slowly, raising an eyebrow. "I..I just didn't know you smoked.." She stammered. I chuckled, "You just learned my name, sweetheart." I said matter of factly. She smirked, which was pretty attractive, not gonna lie.
"I live down this road. 3rd house on the left." She said softly, I nodded and pressed the gas a little. We obviously arrived within the minute and she opened her door as soon as I stopped the car.
"Hey, wait there speedy gonzoles. Do you want me to stop by when I had back out to get my brother? I can drive you and yours back here after." I shrugged. She nodded, slow at first, then at a noticeably fast pace. I wrote my phone number down on a sticky note I keep handy in my glovebox and handed it to the girl. "I'll um.. I'll text you an hour prior and.. Yeah." I nodded and smiled at her, which she returned brightly. She waved to me as she got to her doorstep. I waved back and made my way back to my house.
When i got there my mom was already gone. I took this opportunity to call my friends and tell them, 'party at my place @ 10'. This will be fun.. I smirked to myself.------------
