11~ Jealousy and What the Heck?~
We handed in our science project.
Jordan and Kevin high-fived as I sighed in relief.
No more putting up with these boys.
They were talking as I put on a fresh layer of raspberry-flavoured lip gloss and fixed my hair. I had curled it a few hours ago and it looked fantastic, if I do say so myself.
Raspberry.
Rasp and Berry.
I still giggle a lot at the memory, I can't help it. I can't believe parents would name their kids Rasp and Berry! Didn't they have any other name for them? Like Kayla.
I liked my name, I was glad to be named after my great grandmother.
"Well, I guess we won't have to sit next to you anymore, Vanilla," Kevin said, smirking as I rolled my eyes. "Thank God. I never have to say that ugly face ever again!"
Kevin moved his chair closer to me and I shivered as he whispered in my ear. "What did you say, Vanilla?"
Jordan laughed and fist bumped Kevin when I tried to answer him, but ended up stuttering instead. I rolled my eyes at them and headed to my locker when the bell rang.
I put my books in the locker and then walked with Willow to the ladies room. I examined my outfit one more time. I was wearing a floral white sleeveless top with short denim shorts and white wedges. I smiled at my great outfit and Willow clapped.
"I cant believe you picked that, Kay. I'm finally rubbing off on you!"
I rolled my eyes and muttered a "whatever," as I washed my hands. I walked out of the bathroom and headed for the cafeteria since it was recess, and grabbed a bowl of fruit salad, a juice box and a Granny Smith apple.
Willow grabbed a plate of mac and cheese as we sat down at our now usual table with the cheerleaders. A blue-eyed blonde, Kelly was squealing like a teenage girl about something.
"Come on, Kels, what's the secret?" Willow asked excitedly while I just flipped my food around with my fork. I had no intention whatsoever to get into the conversation.
But, that doesn't mean I can't listen to it.
"Well," Kelly began, all smiles.
"Derek asked me out!"
You could say I choked on my food on that one.
Everyone at the table stared at me as I quickly gulped down my lemonade. Willow patted my back slowly and gave me a look that seemed like she understood.
I thought Derek liked me?
Wait a minute, why should I care? I should be happy he's moved on.
Wait another minute, do I like Derek?! No way!
Ugh, life just got more complicated than it should.
Back home, Kyle was eating vanilla ice-cream.
Vanilla.
Kevin.
Ugh, I was in a crisis and I have to think of boys?!
Now, I need to know what I'm going to do with Derek!
"Blondie, is something bothering you?" My brother asked and I shook my head.
Blondie.
Jordan.
Why am I still thinking of boys?!
I need to focus on Kelly and Derek here!
"You know, I could get you a tub of raspberry swirl ice-"
"I'm good."
Raspberry.
Rasp and Berry.
Jordan and Kevin.
OK, I am becoming a freak show here.
I quickly run to my room when Kyle was talking about some TV show and I locked my door, before laying on my bed.
These boys were getting to my head too much, I'm barely focusing on my education.
Oh no!
I had soccer practice today!
Darn it, how could I stinkin' forget?!
Coach Uzma is going to be soooo mad.
I stumbled out of my bed and grabbed my soccer uniform from the closet, tied my hair in a messy bun and grabbed my backpack before I raced out of the house.
But not before grabbing a few white chocolate Hershey's kisses that Kyle was eating.
"Hey!" he yelled as I began to furiously text Marsha.
She needed to come by now.
Sure enough, in 5 minutes flat she was here, in her soccer uniform and all sweaty. Her hair was in a high ponytail and she looked at me with concern eyes.
"What is it?!"
"Duh, I forgot soccer practice!"
"But. I thought you quit the team?"
Well, my heart stopped almost immediately at that. "No I didn't! I love soccer, how could you say that?!"
Marsha looked confused. "Hannah and Kelly told Coach Uzma you did."
OK, what the heck?!
The next morning I woke up early for school. I quickly threw on a dark red off the shoulder top with black shorts and white Converse. I tied my hair in a messy side ponytail and grabbed an apple before walking towards the bus stop.
I texted Mum and Dad letting them know I was on my way to school. They hadn't even woken up yet.
Hey, at the bus stop. Had an important assignment to do at school today. See you after school :)
I hit send and thankfully the early bus arrived and I got in.
Only a few students took the early bus, so I wasn't the least bit surprised to find only 3 students apart from me on it.
There was this curly-haired nerd reading an encyclopaedia, a coffee-coloured skin straight-haired girl with her earphones in and another nerd reading a Harry Potter book.
Oh, how I've haven't read in a long time.
I took my seat at the back and 10 minutes later, we arrived at my school. I quickly got out, and headed for Kelly's locker.
We had some talking to do.
