Hunger, revenge, to sleep are petty foes, But only death the jealous eyes can close.

They are Dead

No really They are dead. I don't know why I subject myself to this pain every year. It's been the same way for the past six years. I come. I cry. I leave. or better yet I run

I need to stop this.

I need to move on.

No. I need to finish the plan.

I have been telling myself these things for the past six years. But nothing ever changes I still feel it, see it, hear it smell it. The way his bod- stop it not today El. Anything but that he would not want that be your only memory of him...of them.

God! It hurts!

"I miss you Daddy" I say as I put the white rose on top of the tombstone and the same with red for the one on the left. Here Rest Dominic Avant. Loving father. Husband. And Brother. He lies Gabriella Bianchi-Avant. Loving mother and Daughter. I blow out a breath of air at the last word daughter. Yeah! Right how about disowned daughter.

My mother and father met when my mother was just 18. She was by no means innocent or in need of being taken care of. Trust me.

Hard women she was said to be, but to me she would always be the momma who had a snack waiting for me when I got home. By the age of 18 she had graduated high school and was entering her sophomore year of university. That is where she met my father with him having to take time off to serve in the armed forces (marines to be exact) they shared the same classes even though he was her elder by five years.

They had a love story that would rival the ages. Love sick girl, disapproving father, guns, drugs, and the mafia. They had it all against them yet the they still overcame and still loved.

The one thing they always told me is family is everything.

Maybe that's why I am so lost. Because they took everything away from me that night.

Flash back

"the sweetest thing I ever known was like a kiss on th- "my singing was interrupted but my mother storming in my room red in the face.

"Anya Aleena Avant you don't hear me calling you" she says in her most stern voice

God this woman can be intimidating I thought while answering her "no mam"

"well miss Lauren hill if you weren't so busy holding your own private concert then you would have heard me say dinner is ready"

Putting down my pen and apologizing for not answering her I follow her down stair where I see my father and uncle Dante sitting talking about football.

"hey love bug "my father greets me

"Hi daddy Hi uncle Dan" I reply while taking my respected seat. My mother set the table with enough food to feed a kingdom, then instructed us to bow our heads and say grace. If had I known this was going to be last time I tasted my mother's famous mash potatoes. I would have piled the high on my plate.

Taking a chance and peeking up from bowing my head I admired my mother. She was beautiful with her thick jet black hair that fell in loose waves down her back. To her oval shaped face, high cheek bone and the greenest eyes that complimented her olive skin ton. It was not hard to see why my father fell for her, she was beautiful and standing at 5'8 with legs to match I understand how I came to be so quickly. I was glad I got most of my looks from because mom was hot. Not to take anything from my dad with his Carmel complexion and curly hair that he is growing out for no shave November. He was a looker at 6'3 and made of pure muscle at the age of 41.

So this is how we spent our thanksgiving. Our last thanksgiving. And it was all thanks to the motherfucker scooping up all my mother's mashed potatoes.

So as we loaded our plates my uncle asked me my plan for once I graduate because like my mother I am ahead.

"oh I just plan to finish up the rest of my schooling at a university close to home" I said as I stuffed a giant piece of turkey down my mouth.

"Damn girl you can eat. I guess you need something to feed that giant brain of yours" he said while laughing. But I did not see what was so fucking funny, yet I held my comment back.

Dinner after that went on without a hitch.

But I had yet to know that was just the beginning to an end.
