I inhaled steadily and deep and kept my eyes locked on my target. I exhaled slowly as I crouched low to the ground, making sure I was hidden from the naked eye. I never lost focus on my prey, the large white tailed buck standing a couple feet away from me.
I stared at it, thinking about how quickly I could take it down and how much of a struggle it would be to keep it pinned. I inhaled another cool breath of the night’s air and then I struck. I was like lightning, running at the buck before it even knew what hit it. I snarled and leapt into the air landing a well-practiced blow to its back.
I latched on then, teeth and claws digging into the ripe flesh of its tender unprotected hide. I snarled and held on as it bucked and twisted trying to throw me off. I held on through its violent on slaughter of kicks and twist and blood rained down on the freshly dewed grass. It kicked and fought but as the ground was started to stain red, the buck slowly stopped fighting.
Eventually it completely fell to the ground, lifeless and limp in my steel tight jaw. I dragged its body into the shaded underbrush where no other predators would try to fight me for my kill. It was a cool night, a good night for the hunt.
Autumn leaves crunched soundly under me as I dragged my kill under a fallen tree, its dead leaves hiding me from unwanted guests. My prize was soon demolished in a mass of blood and guts as I ate away at the innards’ of the fallen buck. Soon enough nothing remained but scraps and bones and I let out a satisfied growl as I cleaned my muzzle with my large paw. I padded silently out of my hidden alcove and made my way back to my original location.
I picked up speed as the need to run overwhelmed me and soon I was pounding on all fours, wind running through my thick fur and a satisfied purr erupted from my throat at the soothing contact. I saw a fallen oak in my path about ten feet tall in size and distorted from the termites that ate away at its once mighty skin.I leapt into the air and landed gently on the softened wood before propelling off of it and landing back on my trail whilst never stopping my breakneck speed.
My roar ripped through the wilderness, alerting all who exactly prowled through these woods. I ran faster as I saw another tree in my path, this one barely five feet tall and seemed to be freshly fallen. It was younger then the decomposed oak that I had hurtled over mere minutes ago. This particular one looked like it had fallen in the past week or so. I easily cleared it landing softly onto the upturned dirt, most likely from the tree I had just jumped over.
Soon enough my steps started to slow and I came to a halt in front of a large mansion which seemed to be about six or seven stories give or take a few.It was elegantly built, more like a castle then another one of the nicer southern manors you see doting the streets. Immense pillars loomed in front and over me leading up to a large, gold platted door.
On either side of the door there was a lifelike statue of a lion, crouched low with a frozen snarl ripping from its throat. Balconies loomed overhead perhaps one for each floor and another for the patio on top of the roof if I had to estimate. The castle was made of dark stone, giving it an intimidating look without making it morbid. It screamed to beware, with the mighty lions about to pounce and the overall height dwarfing you.
I turned my head and saw east and west wings coming off from either side, creating a circular effect in a way. It doubled the already large building and a content purr clawed it’s out of my throat. I hunkered down and I felt my legs tighten as power seemed to grow and strengthen the taught muscle underneath my fur. Then, I jumped.
I easily cleared the first couple balconies and landed softly on the second highest without feeling winded what so ever. I shook out my head and my tail twitched happily behind me as a glanced over at the single door that stood ajar.
I bounded over to it then, using my head to push it all the way open and lazily making my way inside. I turned around and shut the door silently behind me making sure as to not wake any sleeping guests that might be in the room I had just entered. I quickly glanced over the large bedroom and I only saw pieces of magnificently crafted furniture dotting the room here and there, with exquisite paintings of nature settings on the walls.
Bed coverers were lazily thrown and tangled on the bed, and I sniffed and scented that a male and female had lain there recently. A sweet honey scent wafted over to me with a mixture of something soothing, exotic yet familiar. I assumed this was the girl with the boys scent injected throughout it. The boys scent was the exotic smell I came across that was mixed with the honey. Perhaps I could describe it as freshly cut mint it was spicy yet soothing. It had traces of the girls honey smell, but not as much as she had of him.
I glanced around again and saw a door perhaps halfway across the room from me. I didn’t pay attention to what was around me, my eyes only staring at the second door that was cracked slightly with a small sliver of light shining through. I continued forward and held my breath being sure not to make any sounds.
My paws padded softly against the soft carpet I felt under me, and soon I was pushing the door open with my bulky head. I peered out into the candle lit hallway, I was happy to see no inhabitants roaming at this hour. I stalked my way over to a large staircase, passing several doors in journey. I bounded up the stairs silently and soon I was greeted with a longer winding hallway that I saw no end to. I ran down this one with my speed eating up the distance and soon I arrived at the door directly in the middle of the hall. I pushed it open and sniffed loudly, making a content purring sound as I lumbered inside.
