Prompt: Write About the Time the Rain Wouldn't Stop

~♡~♡~

Thunder rumbled overhead. The sky became dark and angry. Lightning sparked through the opaque clouds, creating eerie displays of contrasting shadows and lights. With a deafening crescendo the heavens cried. Torrent and pelting, the rain beat upon everything in its path.
She stood in the midst of it all. The rain soaked her, numbed her. Her midnight hair clung to her body like a second skin. Her dress turned black as pitch as the water penetrated it. The maelstrom around her reflected her soul. Numbed inside and out. Rain cascading from the sky and her eyes. A flash and she sees his smile. Rolling thunder reminiscent of the cave in. Another flash and his casket was before her. Now only a slab of marble showed that he had been alive.
She screamed into the air, the cacophony enveloping her drowning her out. The rain continued to slam into her, its cold, sharp tendrils penetrating deeper and deeper into her soul. Her lips turned blue and shivers racked her body as the tempest climaxed.
Then suddenly, the storm broke. Clashes of thunder became whispers, bullets of rain became caresses. The sky cleared and the sun once more began to warm the earth with its light. Clouds dispersed to reveal clear blue, broken only by a rainbow stealing its way across.
Still she remained, shivering, soaked, and numb. Even though the rain around her had ceased, water continued to pour down her face. For the storm in her soul raged on and the rain just wouldn't stop.

End.
