Chapter 25:

Caleb’s P.O.V

I looked at Luce in shock. Did she actually just say what I fudging think she said? Oh sheesh I’m using the word fudging again! ‘Damn girl having such an influence on me!’ I thought. “Luce. I…I love you too” I say because I honestly did. I’ve loved her for awhile, I was just too afraid to tell her. What with everything that happened with her mate I wasn’t sure how she would take to hearing that from me. But seems though she’d made the first move, I felt more confident telling her how I felt. “But…but are you just saying that because I said it?” she questions and I shake my head. “I would never do that Luce” I say honestly and she smiles, though she still looks a little worried. “What’s wrong?” I question. “I’m worried that you only love me because of the mate bond between your fox and me” she says softly. I hug her tightly. I should of known that’s what was worrying her. It was one of the reasons she hated the mate bond. She hated the fact that you didn’t get the chance to fall in love naturally. But I knew for certain that my love for her was nothing to do with any mate bond. I loved her before I even knew about the mate bond. “Little slurpie. My love for you has nothing to do with the mate bond” I say softly. She looks at me, her golden eyes locking with mine. “How can you be sure?” she questions. “Because I loved you before I even knew about the mate bond we shared. I was just too afraid to tell you because you were so fragile on topics such as that. I didn’t know how you would take it” I said honestly, hoping like hell she would believe me. “Oh Caleb. Can you fudging believe it! We did it! We managed to fall in love without a silly mate bond and now were blessed with an actual mate bond!” she said cheerfully, hugging me tightly. I couldn’t help but chuckle. Typical Luce behaviour. “Indeed we did it little slurpie” I say holding her tightly to me. She looks at me and grins before yawning. “Come on little slurpie. It’s time you went to sleep. Afterall you have to be up tomorrow to take Mya home” I say and she nods sleepily. I chuckle as I lay down, watching as she settles herself so her heads on my chest. Like always. I wrap my arms around her and smile as I watch her breathing even out as she falls to sleep. It’s not long before I’m following suit. 

Waking up the next morning, Luce was gone. I sighed. It was unusual for me to wake after her. Usually she was the one begging me to let her stay in bed later. So the fact that she was up was surprising. Especially considering it was only 8am! This could only mean one of two things. Either she’d gotten up early to spend sometime with Mya before she has to take her home. Or she’d gotten up early because she was upto one of her plans. And the second one is the one I always feared. I tell you that girl has a VERY overactive imagination. Not that I minded. You had to love her for it. I climbed out of bed cautiously, you know just in case of any booby traps. Because well you never know. Luckily it was safe and I made it to the bathroom, into the shower, cleaned and out the shower without any problems. My next mission. Getting to the kitchen. When I made it there unharmed I was beginning to think that I was letting my mind send me insane and that Luce really wasn’t upto anything. Infact when I walked into the kitchen she was sat at the kitchen counter with Mya, eating what I suspected was pancakes. I let out a sigh of relief. 

“Morning! You look a little un-nerved” Luce said chuckling. “Well when you’re missing out of bed first thing on a morning, it’s usually because your upto no good” I say simply and she chuckles. “I don’t know what you mean. I have never gotten up early to plot against you” she says innocently, I just shoot her a look that says ‘really?’ and she chuckles. “That does actually sound a lot like you Luce” Mya says chuckling. “Shh woman, your suppose to be on my side!” Luce chides and Mya and I just laugh. “Well gee. Last time I ever help either of you guys out” Luce mutters. “Aww. Now don’t be sour little slurpie” I tease and she just scowls at me. “I would offer you pancakes, but well I ate them all” Luce said while shooting me an evil grin. “Why does that not surprise me” I say chuckling. “What’s that suppose to mean! are you fudging calling me fat?” she accuses and I throw my hands up in defeat. “That is not what I meant” I said helplessly, while looking at Mya for some help. She just laughs and motions to myself. ‘Cheers for the help there Mya’ I thought sarcastically. “Then what exactly did you mean?” Luce challenged. “Nothing. It doesn’t matter” I say sighing, knowing there is no way I was going to make this better with anything I say. So I opt for not saying anything. At least then I can’t dig a deeper hole. Or that was the theory anyway. “Mmm I bet it doesn’t” she says simply. I just sigh. I had a feeling she would seek some revenge on me for that.
