"Thomas!!!!!....."

"Thomas....?! Newt!!"

My eyes slowly open, then close again. "Newt?? Where the bloody shuck are they!!"

"THOMAS! NEWT!"

I open my eyes quickly. Me and Newt fell asleep together. I look around and his head is on my shoulder. He's still asleep. "HELLO?!" Someone yells. Their footsteps get closer.

I look down at him. He's so beautiful, especially when he's sleeping. He looks so peaceful, like there's not a worry in the world. If only he felt that way.

His eyelids flutter as he sleeps, his warm breath on my neck. I slowly slip out from under him. I tap his shoulder awkwardly. "Newt?"

I poke him until he wakes up. His eyes open then close, open, close, then shoot open. "Shit Tommy." He says, his voice raspy.

"NEWT WHERE ARE YOU!!"

We stand up just as Alby spots us. "What's going on over here?" He asks. "Oh, I was just showing Tommy the carvings."

That's when I noticed that many different names were carved into the stone wall. Nick, Jerry, Connor, Newt, Minho...

Some of the names had been crossed out. A wave of sadness washed over me. What happened to them? Did they go into the maze? It makes my stomach churn thinking about it. People have actually died here.

Alby shrugs. "Alright. Well let's get to work, breakfast is getting cold."

I shake it off and we all walk back to wash up for breakfast.

After we eat Newt calls me over. "Meet me where we slept last night at 10pm." And he quickly leaves after. My heart races and I spend the rest of the day dying to know what he's gonna tell me.

Hours and hours pass as I'm in charge of feeding the animals. Nothing interesting about tossing hay in pens and refilling water bins. But it was nice because today Newt was cutting down trees and carrying the logs to the side of the homestead. He was so hot- I mean he always is.

We all eat dinner, then get ready for bed. I stand behind the homestead running my fingers through my hair, and washing my face with a bucket of water. "Who you getting ready for?" I quickly turn around to see Minho standing there.

"Just washing up. What's it to ya?" He laughs and shakes his head. "Night, slint-head. Maybe tomorrow you'll come out in the maze with us." He walks away and I sit there with water dripping down my chin.
