CHAPTER 9

I blinked trying to clear my eyes, was it just my imagination? No........... I was certain it wasn't. Our opponent was shocked too, my hands trembled trying to grip onto my sword. Cyrus stood in front of us, River glanced back realizing the shock and pain in my eyes.

"We're running," River said softly to me, I didn't move, River grabbed my other arm and ran for our main group. I bit my lips, forcing myself to realize that Cyrus was an enemy.

"The other group's here too Alice," River shouted to Alice when we were just about 2 metres away from her. Alice frowned and then nodded. I had broken free of Rivers grip as I ran beside him.

"We have taken out the entire other group but Lucia, Kira and Tide are really tired, Cinna's with them right now!" Alice's voice came towards us. "We should retreat!" I nodded in response as we turned to the right of the plains, heading back through the town and back to our base.

"I thought fighting would have been easier than using magic, now maybe not, bye guys, I'm heading back to my room," Kira puffed as he ran into the house. As he was about to leave Alice gripped him tightly.

"No, you're not going anywhere, the girl you fought was the old lady." Kira's eyes enlarged then shrunk again, he shrugged but still he sat at a round table where we usually had our meetings if it was inside.

"Just wondering but why was the other group there?" Cinna asked, knowing that no one knew the answer. River shrugged and turned to look at me to see if I was alright. I smiled back but inside I didn't feel as great as I seemed.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I stared up at the same marble white roof as the last time I thought of Cyrus, questions flooded into my mind as I wondered my he was there, Alice was right last time, he had joined the opponent's team, but why? Suddenly a blurry picture flashed in my mind, it was the same as last time, a snow covered white forest but this time with someone else there, standing away from us calling out to someone, I couldn't see who it was, but I knew for sure it wasn't River.

My eyelids fell as I drifted off into my sleep. The full moon was as bright as last time, everything seemed so similar.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kicking up my blanket I yawned as I took a black coat of the coat hook, I headed outside into the wooden hallway, Kira was standing at Alice's door talking with her, he started to slowly walk in with his hands in his pockets. After a quiet few minutes, Alice's voice burs-ted out, seeing Kira fly out of the room as Alice slammed the door shut. Kira pursed his lips and walked back to his room. I opened door slightly and peered inside, Alice smiled"Don't worry about what just happened." I nodded.

"Should I go get the others to have our meeting?" I asked.

"Yeah, sure," Alice was holding a small picture of someone but she didn't mention it to anyone.

Knocking on the door of River's room,  I gradually opened the door and looked inside. River sat at his wooden desk reading a book that seemed weirdly magical.

"River, Lets go down stairs to our meeting," I whispered softly. He turned and nodded.

"I'll be there soon."

I headed down the stairs as I met all the members. River hurried down behind me. Just as Alice was about to speak, a loud banging on the door interrupted her. Alice rushed to the door and opened it. She frowned and she slammed the door shut again.

"Um...we're not here to fight, we need a talk!!" A mysterious voice shouted through the door. Cinna seemed to recognize the voice.

"Only an idiot would trust you!" Cinna cried in return.

"We're serious!"

"Fine, but don't try anything inside here!" Alice swung the door open and looked sternly at them. Walking in calmly the enemy sat down on the opposite side of the table to where we were sitting. I glanced away from the other group when I saw him again, Cyrus.

"Well, why are you guys here?" Kira questioned.

"Slayers around here has been asked to eliminate all magic uses in this area, if they do it they will get a huge amount of money. we will need to team up to overpower them," the captain of the other group, Fiana, explained.

"And exactly should we trust you?" snapped Lucia back at them, she disliked them more than anyone else.

"You think we're trying to plan an attack in your base, only pure idiots like you guys think that!" A boy shouted back at Lucia.

"We're not idiots! We just can't trust you, not after a betrayal from a mission together just like this one!" Lucia spat at the boy, getting all fired up about this argument.

"That betrayal was necessary, like hell you'd underst..."

"Haven't you guys had enough yet, just shut up already," River's voice cut off the boy. The boy frowned and tried to speak again but Fiana stopped him.

"Okay, now that it's quiet again, Alice would you like to agree to this?" Fiana asked.

"Under one condition, do not harm any of our members, if you will agree then we will join,"Alice replied in a serious manner. Fiana nodded and turned to see if there were any objections in her decision, the boy from before just pursed his lips and looked away.
