So, this is my first story ever, I haven't finished it yet, but it is a work in progress, please enjoy and tell me what you think (:

Staring at the black tires on my brother's beat up Ford I realized some one was talking to me. "Derrick!" "Huh I didn't hear you?" "Yeah, I could tell." It was my brother. "You should get ready kid we have to go soon."

I went upstairs to take a shower and put on my tuxedo, our dad was getting married today. Although I didn't want him to, I was happy he had finally moved on from our mothers death. I was ten when our mom died, it's been six years since then.

As we pull up to the church, I see my dad's side of the family. I saw my dad, he looked happy. He would be happier if my mom was still alive, but we didn't talk about that much anymore.

My dad and his wife to be wouldn't be having a honey moon, my dad's wife to be, Victoria, didn't trust me with her daughter. She didn't trust me at all though, that didn't bother me. At least I wouldn't be stuck with her spoiled daughter for two weeks.

My brother is so lucky he moved out, I always asked my dad if I could move in with my brother but I always got the same answer, "When you are eighteen."

Me and my brother had no special roles in the wedding, and I'm pretty glad I didn't. We sat with my dad's sister, and our grandparents. We hadn't seen our grandparents for at least a year, so all me and my brother heard until the shin dig started was how grown up we looked.

But thankfully the music started, and Victoria's dad was being walked down the aisle by her father. Aunt Veronica didn't like Victoria and insisted it was all in dad's head to want to marry such a wretched woman.

The ceremony went on for ages for all I know, maybe if I was a bit older I would've paid attention. But I just wanted to get this bull shit lie over with. And before I knew it, the whole thing was done.

Thank God, food! I could eat a small village right now. I wandered away from the crowd with my plate of food, and sat down underneath a large willow tree. They wanted this reception after the wedding to be outside. We were at a national park, it was pretty nice here I suppose.

"Derrick!" The shrill voice of my sister in law called for me. I followed it until I found her, stuck in a tree. I set my plate down on a stump near by and look up at her, and laughed.

She pouted, "Derrick this isn't funny, I can't down help please!" I rolled my eyes and opened my arms, "Jump, I'll catch you!" She looked afraid at first, but she jumped. I caught her and put her back down on solid ground.

She was thirteen, she had long blonde hair, and blue eyes, just like Victoria. She hugged me, "Thank you so much Derrick! I won't forget this!" "Yeah sure whatever Jamie."

I could see Victoria watching us, she was scowling at first, but than she smiled at me. I smiled back, and went back to my tree. My brother walked over to me, "You aren't much of a social butterfly are you?" I laughed, "No, I sure in the hell am not Scott."

He walked away, man I couldn't wait until this party was over it seriously blowed. I watched everyone chatter, and make small talk for about an hour, and I was done I couldn't stay here much longer without losing it.

I walked over to my dad, "Hey uh dad?" "Yeah Derrick?" "Is it okay if I call Jake to have him come get me? Its getting kind of boring here.

He frowned, "Stay and socialize with your family, we will leave soon anyways." I groaned, and walked back towards my tree. I saw dad look at me and look back at the family and shale his head.

Yeah, I was always such a disappointment to him. My brother was so perfect, and I was the black sheep of the family, I always had been.

Finally, the whole thing ended, and we could leave. Since I came to the wedding with my brother, I left with him as well. He got to my dad's house before my dad did, I went inside, took another shower, and went straight to bed. Man I was tired.
