-PROLOGUE
It was a hour after my mother's funeral and I was sitting across from my father and aunt Shareen in Dave's Diner asking them why I couldn't just stay with aunt Shareen in California. I didn't want to live with my dad and his already made family.
"Desiree with the job I have I'm never home. I wouldn't be able to give you the attention you need. You can always come in the summer." Aunt Shareen spoke
After I sat there for awhile listening to them go back and forth on reason why I should stay with David(My father) and his family I knew I wouldn't win this argument so I just agreed. The next three days I spent time with aunt Shareen while she was in town. She introduced me to her old college buddy Gabby who was a hairstylist. Gabby agreed to keep my hair up for free since aunt Shareen looked out for her back in college. Then we went shopping and she got me an IPhone. The last day we spent together she started me a bank account that she would put money in every time she got paid. I was set!
-Chapter 1
It was the first day of school and Ashley made it clear she didn't want anyone to no we were sisters. Not that she was ugly or anything but I was way prettier then her and I had no doubt that I would be popular anyway. While I was 5'4 and curvy Ashley was probably 5'6 and skinny. Her hair was long but thin and dull, mines was long silky and shiny thanks to my mom who was a full blooded Native American. Ashley and I acted different and dressed different. Like today she was wearing an Aeropostal shirt some skinny jeans and flip flops with her hair in a ponytail. I was wearing some figure fitting skinny jeans with a pink V neck and matching sandals. Yesterday I let Gabby do me a Brazilian blowout and went and got my nails done so I was looking like money.
After we were dressed and had breakfast Diane, my dad's wife dropped us off at school. This was me and Ashleys sophomore year. Malley High was way bigger than my old school. As soon as we got inside me and Ashley went our separate ways. There was so much going on around me that I started getting nervous. As I got down too the end of the main hall I spotted a bathroom. Once I got inside I begin to hyperventilate not noticing the girl coming out of the bathroom stall.
"Are you okay! Breath in slowly." She said rushing to my side. I took a couple deep breaths and slowly calmed down.
"Thanks." I said looking up at the girl.
"No problem same thing use to happen to me. I'm Lucy." She said extending her hand out for me to shake it.
" Desiree." I shook her hand.
" You must be new. I'm a sophomore what are you?"
" Yeah and I'm a sophomore too." Lucy was the same height as me with bleached hair that was cut into a Bob and it really complimented her Carmel colored skin tone and her bright green eyes. By the way she was dressed I could tell she had style. She was wearing a shear blue button up shirt with some khaki skinnys and Brown sandals.
" Let me see your schedule." I dug in my purse, found my schedule and handed it to her. " Ohh wow! This will be fun. We have all the same classes except for the parenting class. And we have the same lunch period."
" Good maybe I won't be so lost." I laughed
" You're not going to be lost at all. I'll let you know the ends and outs of Malley High. Come on we gone be late for first period." She smiled and grabbed my hand pulling me towards our first class.
