Chapter 2

*Kennedi P.O.V*

  Kai pulled into the parking lot of the building where the party was taking place. You could hear music playing and could see people coming in and out of the fancy, two story building. As I saw the people exiting, I felt kind of under dressed. I was actually dreading getting out of the car, yet at the same time I wanted to get out of it. In public was the only place Kai didn't act possessive, compelling and cruel.

  "Do you plan on getting out?," Kai asked in an irritated, impatient tone. I just nodded and opened my door. At that very same moment, I saw him... What was his name again? After pondering it for a bit, it finally hit me. Matt! The images of him in the store all came rushing back. Were they the new people?, I asked myself mentally.

  "C'mon Kennedi!," I heard Kai say with annoyance. I followed him inside, trying to avoid eye contact with Matt and the other guys that were with him.

  "Kennedi!," Matt called. "Shit," I mumbled, plastering on a smile and turning to face Matt. "Wow," I thought. Matt looked amazing. He had a slight stubble look and was wearing a black tuxedo. He looked completely delicious. "Ken-Ken," Kai called in a forced, sweet voice. I cleared my throat and smiled at Matt and his friends, then looked over at Kai. "Who's this?," he asked with a slight edgy tone. "Uh. Kai, this is Matt. Matt this is my boyfriend, Kai." Matt smile kindly, his dimples showing a little. "Nice to meet you, Kai. These are my best friends- Brian, Jimmy, Johnny and Zacky." Kai just nodded, watching the guys closely.

  "Kennedi!," rang a familiar voice from behind me. "I see you've met the new band. They came here to resume their music career. I thought you'd be perfect for the job," Nick grinned. "Yeah, absolutely," I said with a small laugh.

  You've just got to love Nick. He may be my boss, but he's also one of my close friends. He tries as much as he can to get me jobs just to get out of the house. He knows exactly what Kai does. If I hadn't told him to keep quiet about it, I would've been out of this situation.

  A small touch to my arm is what snapped me out of my thoughts. The touch sent shivers through my body. "Kennedi?," his voice called to me. It was Matt... Why was his touch affecting me like this? I shouldn't be falling for this. He shouldn't have this affect of me. I was supposed to be Kai's. Only Kai's. "Oh yeah, sorry," I replied, shaking my head slightly to clear my head. "I asked you if you wanted to come check out some of our songs tomorrow," Matt repeated gently. I turned to ask Kai if it was okay but he was already inside the building flirting with some other girls. "I'd love to," I responded with a smile. "Great!," Jimmy said, walking up to me and wrapping his arm around my shoulders and hugging me like he'd known me forever.

  With Jimmy, it really did feel like we'd known each other forever. He was just so warm hearted. I hadn't even really talked to him and I just knew. He seemed like the type of person that would be there for you if you needed help getting through or with anything. Just having a side hug from him made me feel secure. It made me feel like a giant teddy bear was protecting me, shielding me. I liked this sense of safety.

  I'd heard Brian bickering lightly with Matt before shoving Matt forward. Matt looked back at Brian and glared playfully before turning back toward me. By now a smile was already spread across my lips. I think this bunch could grow on me, I thought with a smile. Matt held his arm out to me. "Shall we?," he smiled. I nodded and linked my arm with his. Jimmy looped his arm through my opposite one and proceeded walking with me to the doors, Kai looked over and glared, marching over. "What the hell do you think you're doing?," he spat. "What does it look like?," Matt answered simply. "She's mine. Keep your hands off of her," Kai growled, yanking me away from them. Jimmy didn't look to thrilled about this. "You don't touch a lady like that," Jimmy said in a low menacing voice. Kai pushed me behind him and got in Jimmy's face. "She's mine. I can do whatever I please."

  I peeked over Kai's shoulder to look at Matt. His nostrils were flared and his chest was slightly heaving as he looked at Kai. I whimpered softly, shinking behind Kai. Matt looked over at me, his expression immediately softening. Looking into his hazel eyes, I completely forgot about the bickering in the background. He smiled softly before turning back to face Kai and Jimmy, Kai looking like he was about to punch Jimmy and Jimmy looking like he was about to punch Kai. "I said you don't ever trea-," Jimmy was cut off by Kai's fist colliding with his jaw in a right hook.

 A small gasp escaped my lips as I saw what he'd done. Jimmy stumbled back some before looking back at Kai and running at him, Brian grabbed me from behind Kai and ran outside with me before the fight truly began...
