~Chapter 14~

Gagen’s point of view.

I get along with guys better than I do with girls to be honest. Guys were nice, they don’t bitch and most of all they can get down and dirty. They don’t have to worry about breaking a nail or anything. When the bell went, we walked to our lockers and put our English stuff away. I said good bye to Alex, then Aiden and I were on our way to ground sports.

“We’ll tryouts are now so we have to go get changed.” We made our way over to the change rooms and when we got there i went into the girls and he went into the guys. I got changed into my shorts and singlet and then slipped the glove on. It was finger less and black and gold. I put my stud boots on and made my way out of the change rooms and met Aiden, who was standing with a bunch of guys who all had the same t-shirt on as him.

“Is she trying out?” one said.

“She doesn’t have a chance. None of the girls have ever made it in.”

“Yeah, she’s trying out. She is my sister.”

“Well let’s go meet coach.” We walked out onto the oval and to the back were there were ten targets set up.

“Welcome to Arching tryouts. There is only one spot so you have to do your best.” Everyone had to line up and I decided to go last. Everyone was pretty good. When it was my turn I stood up and faced my target. Aiden passed me his bow and arrow. I lined up with the target and concentrated. I erased my mind of all my worry’s. I drew it back and let it go. I watched it fly through the air and hit bull’s eye.

“Hows that for a girl?” I said lining up for the next target. Every new target we got further away. I was up to number eight now and so far I’ve gotten all bulls eyes. I concentrated again and let go. Another bull’s eye. I lined up again and let go. This time I got the circle before bull’s eye. I lined up for the last and erased my mind as much as I could but my mother came into my thoughts. All I could think about was her. What did she look like, what did she sound like? All those sorts of things. I thought of the target as Lucifers head. My face turned into a frown and I let go. Bull’s eye. I stepped back and breathed heavily. Aiden came over to me and put his arm around my waist.

“Are you ok?” he said.

“I’m fine.” I said angrily.

“What happened?”

“Let’s just say that if that was lucifers head he would have been dead.” I said smiling.

“Well you did pretty dam well. Your equal with me.” He said smiling.

“Well I won’t get in, I’m a girl.” I said sarcastically.

“Alright so I have decided the winner. The spot goes to...” everyone went silent. “Gagen.”

“You did it!” Aiden said picking me up.

“Yah!” I said punching the air.

“But she’s a girl!” one said.

“What’s wrong with that? You afraid I’m better then you?” He went silent.

“Alright. Tryouts are over. Back to you class.” Coach yelled at us. “Aiden, Gagen. Come here please.”

We went over to coach and stood facing him. “What’s up coach?” Aiden asked.

“You tell me, mate. You just had someone equal your score; and she’s a girl.” He said, his eyebrows going up.

We looked at each other. “Were brother and sister.” We said at the same time.

“Speaking of which, coach, I need you to do a memory check. It’s important to see if we really are twins.” Aiden said. Coach looked at both of us.

“Fine. Gagen hold my right hand and Aiden the left then hold each other’s hand.” We did as he said and formed a small circle. Coach started saying words in another language I have not learnt. A mist covered us and we were transported to another place in time.
