Chapter 23: Rainy Day

The sky was dark. Thunder roared as lightning danced across the gloomy sky.

"Moma, I'm scared," I pouted as I snuggled closer to mom on the living room couch.

She ruffled my hair. "Oh sweetie," she cooed. "Wanna invite Robin over?"

"Can I go instead?"

"Okay," she answered. "Be careful, okay? It's about to rain."

I nodded.

I couldn't find my blue umbrella  anywhere so I just went there with a Vans cap.

I knocked on the door, and Mr. Jackson answered.

"Hi, Sir," I greeted politely.

He chuckled. "Why call me sir? We're friends, Jarrett."

"Oh, I'm sorry, Mr. Jackson. Sir."

He chuckled again. "Okay, what do you want, son?"

"Just here to see Robin."

"Okay, come in."

I obliged and went up to Robin's room.

She was seated on her desk chair, feet up on the wall, headphones on. "What up, buttercup?" she said with a smile.

"It's gonna rain soon," I said.

"Yeah, so?"

"I... got scared..." I mumbled, embarrassed.

She chuckled, coming over to me.

"Aw... Well, if it helps, it is Saturday. And you know what that means..." she said, making me fill in the blank.

"Uh..."

What's on Saturday? Oh God, I'm completely blanking right now! Oh God. Oh God.

She smacked my arm. "Oh geez! How dare you forget?" she gasped.

I nervously scratched the back of my head.

"Sorry..." I muttered.

She giggled and said, "It's movie night, stupid."

Oh right.

"So what're we watching?" I asked as I sat down on her couch.

"I'm thinking of binge watching this new show called How I Met Your Mother," she said, taking a seat next to me.

"But it's movie night," I said, emphasizing 'movie' part.

"Yeah, yeah," she said, flicking her hand up and down. "But my friend, Avery, said it's really good."

"Okay fine. As long as Avery, the girl I barely know, says it's good then it's gotta be good," I said, sarcastically.

She rolled her eyes, standing up.

"Whatever. I'm putting in the DVD," she responded, inserting the DVD in the DVR.

"Number of seasons?" I questioned.

"9."

"Number of main characters?"

"5."

"Number of fans?"

"A million," she scoffed.

"You seem to have all the answers."

"You seem to have all the questions."

"Duh."

"Alright! Playing all 9 seasons of How I Met Your Mother right... now."

-

It was pouring rain outside.

"Hey, Robin?" I whispered somewhere between season 4.

"Yeah?" she whispered back.

"I just realized something."

"What?"

"I love it when it rains."

...

"So do I."
