We walked along the beach as the sun was setting. Looking up into his blue eyes I couldn’t help to smile. The sun’s rays cast around him; highlighting his brown hair and making him glow. I had never been so happy to call someone my boyfriend. I had somehow managed to snag one of the hottest and most popular guys at school. He’s captain of the football team and on honor roll, so my parents approved of him.
“I love you,” he said to me.
“I love you too, Zak.” I said smiling up at him, “We should head back. It’s almost curfew.”
He nodded and we headed back home. Zak knows how I like to be on time. He walked me up the steps to my house. We were saying goodnight when the door opened to show my mother with a tear stained face.
“Mom, what’s wrong?”
“It’s your sister. She was in a car accident.” She informed me.
My heart stopped at those words. “What, is she okay?” I asked hurriedly.
My mother shook her head and tears began to stream down her face again, “She didn’t make it.”
Life felt like it stopped at that moment. How could she be dead? My big sister, gone, she had been a best friend to me. It was always me and her, Luna and Lizzie. She had always been there. Now she’s gone. If only I had known that, that was only the beginning of when everything started falling apart.
