Kingdom of the Night

Where darkness dwells
And sorrow swells,
Where children weep
And demons reap,
Where nothing is seen
Except for in dream,
That is the kingdom of the night.

Where coldness bites
And daylight fights,
Where brave men die
And their wives cry,
Where dead men thrive
Off of good men's lives,
That is the kingdom of the night.

Where silence falls
And no bird calls,
Where truths are lies
And sins are disguised,
Where few men dare enter
For fear of endless winter,
That is the kingdom of the night.

Where rape goes unnoticed,
Where murder is unpunished,
Where abuse is forgotten,
Where children's hearts are broken,
Where sin is a virtue,
Where no one understands truth,
This is the kingdom of the night.

Where fathers leave there sons,
Where fights are won with guns,
Where streets are paved with fear,
Where no ounce of hope seems near,
Where love is seen as just a curse,
Where nothing could possibly be worse,
This is the kingdom of the night!

Where we live today and now,
The place in which we cry and shout,
Where we've lived in pain and hate,
In fear without mere hope of escape,
Where our fathers died to free our souls,
In the place where bodies lie in holes,
This is the place where we need light.
This is the kingdom of the night.
