*Zeke's POV*

Today marked two weeks since Ethan's death. A death he didn't deserve might I add as well! Ethan was my best friend since we were toddlers and because he was a friend of my family we were always stuck together.

At first we didn't see eye to eye and according to my mother Rosalina, I had once hit him with a ball of play dough because he laughed at my dirty face. Those were the memories I cherished.

But now he was gone. Those stupid Vampire Hunters had staked him while he was surveying the property for my father. Of course they didn't get into the compound, like cowards they led him out by pretending one of their members was injured.

Of course Ethan hadn't known they were the Parkerson's, the worse lot of all the hunters. He had presumed it was an innocent girl who had been attacked in a dangerous forest were monsters lurked much like the Parkerson's.

He always cared too much. That was his downfall, my mother disagreed but I knew I was right. Love was too much of a risk in a world were you had to watch your back every 5 minutes. I vowed never to let myself to be so stupid and fall onto a stake.

I still remember how we found him, like it was yesterday. My father and I had grew worried after realizing Ethan hadn't came home and my mother checked to see the guest room was empty.

He was only staying temporarily as he was visiting me and my family (mostly me) like he did every summer. My family loved him like one of their own and my little twin sisters Arianna and Jane had a massive crush on him!

I could still smell the rotting flesh and see his sunken in face as if he had only turned. His body was dismembered as if staking him wasn't enough, they had got the thrill out of chopping him up.

They didn't take his head like the souvenirs they usually took, this time they were sending a warning or more like a threat to my father as King. As usual my mother and father wouldn't retaliate so I had no choice but to take matters into my own hand.

I bit the Parkerson's precious son, Kai. I had been watching him for the last week and a half and was surprised to see he didn't go out much. I was beginning to give up when my opportunity arose.

The perks of having heightened hearing was you could hear from miles away and still hear the conversations clearly! He was on the phone to some girl called 'Tash' and she was adamant they go to a club.

I was praying at that moment (if vampires could pray) that he would go out as he seemed quite reluctant but thankfully his friend had guilt tripped him and it was time to start my revenge. Someone had to get justice for what they had done and Kai would have to pay the price.

I waited hours for him to finally come out of the club looking quite stressed. It was good that his emotions were all over the place as it gave me a better chance to  take him while nobody was watching.

It was stupid to do it in the middle of the street but with the bouncer out of the equation all I needed to do was take him down a secluded place and kill him. The problem was I didn't kill him.

The plan all along was to kill Kai and watch as his family grieved him like how I was grieving now but for some reason I couldn't do it. When he looked up at me with his innocent face all the aggression had sizzled out.

I shouldn't have felt sorry for the jerk as he had basically killed Ethan. He might not been holding the stake or drove it into his heart but his father did and he was from the same bloodline.
