Chapter One
I always wanted a tree fort. But my dad, well, he was no dad at all. So I never got one. And that was that.
It'd been a dream of mine all my childhood. Most my friends had them and I was always pretty jealous. But guess what, for my dad a six pack or two was always more important than putting a smile on his daughter's face. And my smile is cute as all getout if I do say so myself. Stupid bastard, what did he know.
Good news is I have a treehouse now! A really big one as a matter of fact. So yeah, atleast one of my dreams has come true, 'cuase the rest of um, just like the world, have pretty much all gone to shit.
And just tellin ya now, I cuss. Teenagers cussed before, and teenagers cuss now. A lot. That's reality. Deal with it, or go take yourself and your virgin ears somewhere else. Like a running woodchipper. Let me tell ya, in a world where there's a bazillion goddanm corpses roaming the streets, and any moment could be your last, well, who gives a flying fuck if someone cusses. Everyone's mouth is just as filthy as thier skin nowadays and I don't think its really gonna change any time soon. Especially with no more bossy adults around.
Just the other day I celebrated my sixteenth birthday. It was great. I spent the afternoon plastering walking corpses with crossbow bolts. This X-bow I picked up at Dick's pretty much Pwns. It's a 175 pounder and easily rips through the rotting flesh of what use to be all the world's adults. Cool huh?
Oh and later, to top it off, the gang surprised me with a chocolate cake. It was a little burnt, but still sweet of them. I never really learned how to bake either, none of the Betty Crocker ever crap did it for me. So I can't really blame the boys.
Life could be worse. Ya know? Like a zombie gnawing on my intestines or something.
Me and my sis, Maddy, live up in Big Sur now with a group of other kids. It's a state park on the coast of California if you didn't know, filled with miles and miles of redwoods. The biggest trees you've ever seen. And yup, that's where we live, up in the branches of all of um'. They, or I should say we now, call ourselves the Ewoks. Ya know like after those cute furry things in Stars Wars. If you haven't seen Star Wars, well, I really don't know what the fuck to tell you. Well, I can say this; I can probably never ever be your friend. Ever.
But anyways, those jittery furballs can kick some ass when they want to though. They do a pretty good job of given it to Stormtroopers with just sticks and stones. Well, maybe a couple a really big fuckin logs too. There's actually two other standalone Ewok movies if you didn't know. Not that yu'll really ever get a chance to see them at this point but yeah. I've always been a geek when it comes to movies and shit.
Back to the point, where we live kinda looks like thier tree villages. Just probably not so well made, and I haven't seen the ghostly images of a Jedi-masters out in the distance yet. Great place for target practice though shootin' arrows down into the brains of Walkers! We get them out here, I think they smell our blood or some shit. Who knows.
The gang is twenty-two of us. Seven girls, fifteen boys. Yeah it's probably not that best ratio.
Later today we're doing a scavenge run into town. But for a bit I was just reading the Jules Verne I picked up a week ago on our last run. And now I'm writin in my journal.
I'm actually an avid reader, well I was even more of one back when I could actually get ahold of some goddanm books. I need to collect some more. Badly. Maybe Benny will let me visit the bookstore or library this run. Could be dangerous though. I haven't even gone that far into the little town. Hopefully one is still standing and doesn't look like some Nazi celebration inside. Before all this I had an app on my phone where you could put your own writing up. I never put any on, but it was always fun to read others peoples stories for the half hour I road home every day. Welp, (example, there was) no more of that. Cell phones, internet, all that stuff. Gonzo.
