I walked down the path to the apartment I lived in with my parents. The day in school had been long and tiring and I just wanted to lie in bed.

Walking down the last street I noticed that the city had become deathly quite, except for police sirens in the background. Just as I reached the apartment building, it started pouring down with rain.
"Great." I muttered to myself. Don't get me wrong, I love the rain, but I was wearing my school uniform. It consisted of a black tank dress, a white t-shirt shirt, white stockings and black shoes. Great uniform, I know, I'm the one who has to wear it for five days every week.

I quickly turned into my apartment building. Evie was at the check in seemed quite scared, shaking and sweating. I walked up to her to ask her what was wrong.
"Hey Evie, what's wrong?" I asked.
"Oh July, come in here and see the news." Evie said, summoning me behind the counter.

I ignored the little door and just climes over. As I got over I could here the television.
"These people have been seen wandering the city and biting people. These people then turn into what they are like. The government has declared a state of emergency and is telling everybody to stay inside at all costs. If you see one of these people do not help them or you will die." A males voice said.

I turned to Evie. Her apartment was on the other side of the city.
"Come up to my apartment." I said.
"Okay." Evie agreed.

I held Evie's hand as we both walked up to my apartment, on the fourth floor. When we got to the door I turned around to look at Evie.
"Wait here." I told her. "I'll text you when you can come in."
Evie nodded in response.

I unlocked the door to the apartment, the worst place on earth for me. The living room door was closed, as usual, and the sound of the television could be heard. I sighed and went to my room.

As I was about to text Evie to tell her to come in I felt something behind me. I flinched and turned to look at the person. I almost screamed, when I saw it was my mum I felt a lot better.
"Oh mum, you're home early today, I'm glad it's not just me and dad. I know you say he's kind but I don't think so." I said, running to hug her.

I grabbed my mum and noticed that her body was cold, freezing cold. I stepped back to take a good look at her. That's when I noticed, my mum was not 'alive'. I gasped and stepped back. Just as I was about to run through the doorway my dead dad came and stood there.

My back hit against the windows as my parents got closer. I was going to have to jump out of the windows, but I was on the fourth floor, I'd probably die. I guess anything is better than being killed by you're already dead parents.

I smashed through the glass and started falling, back first. The rain pounded against me as I fell. I was scared. Was I going to die? Will I turn into the walking dead like my parents? Was Evie okay?

Before I could answer my questions my body hit a bunch of rubbish. I winced and checked myself for any injuries. That's when I noticed that my left arm was stained with scarlet blood. My left arm had been split open from my wrist to my shoulder. There was probably glass in it but I seriously couldn't care less. I took out my phone and texted Evie to meet me outside if the apartment building. It took longer than I thought it would take because my phone screen had been smashed.

After I texted Evie I got up and went to the doors of the apartment building. It actually took a lot of energy because every time I stepped my arm throbbed terribly. Hopefully I could find a doctor that was still alive to stitch it up. I finished my thought just as I got a text from Evie. I read it and prepared for the worst. This was not going to be easy.
